for class that was just signed for 2011 team.
Of course, we'll have to see who shows up after the draft. Gausmann, Bedrosian, Cechinni are long shots at best. The draft will have to take some of them or we may be looking at cuts.

Yea, I'm kind of worried by that. But, CPM has proved he can win in Omaha so...
Not that it has to do with recruiting, but I'm just saying he's definitely a better coach.

we have some awesome talent that did not even see the field last year. some nice talent from juco as well.

expect to see contributions from wet delatte, trey watkins, and joey bourgeouis.

I think he's kind of hedged his bets in this class. He's signed 16 kids so far, when it doesn't appear that there will be nearly that many spots open. Also, LSU has gotten burned in the past by not going after supposed high draft guys in state that end up at places like Tulane and Bama, so I think having Cechinni signed is a good thing, because he'll likely go pro, but on the off chance he doesn't, he won't be playing against us.

Also, Cechinni and and Jacoby Jones are both highly rated shortstops, as is Kevin Kozial, so it seems like he's playing a numbers thing with offering 3 guys at the same position. (Though I think both Kozial and Jones may also pitch)

Another reason I think we'll be okay is that he seems to like going after JUCO kids who can come in as sophomores instead of juniors. This helps when it comes to back up plans, and helps with the continuity of the program.

But, all that said, this class is still very heavy on draftable talent, so we'll definitely be sweating them until next August.

I think we just have to trust the CPM knows what he is doing. He has been doing this a long time. Besides, there is nothing that we can do about it but worry.

Yeah but if 11 of those kids get to campus I'd call that a success.

Just look at how many impact freshman LSU had last year. Three full timers in Mahtook, Nola and Ott and Hanovor was a part time starter and significant contributer. LSU baseball has gotten more talented with each class that has made it to campus under PM, even with players signing with MLB. Also, recruiting too many studs is not what did in Smoke.

Yeah it doesn't look like the top players in this class will make it to campus, but the class looks very deep and talented, so the losses won't likely break us. I love the stockpiling of talent as we will have backup options if the best guys sign with pro teams. Great job recruiting. GEAUX TIGERS!
