What makes one a Miles "apologist?"

I'll answer before they even get here....

I've been trying to figure out for the past 3 days how the possibility of being 10-2 with this team is a "downward spiral". I'm still working on it. I'll let you know what I find.

The answer isnt about what hes done before, its about what he hasnt done lately, which is win the big ones that count.

I didn't think we would lose 3 of the last 4 games last year, so who knows. I think we are a better team this year, but Ole Miss and Arkansas always play us tough.

very true...gotta win the big ones, been a few years since this happened...starts to look like a trend...Gonna be until next year that we play those big ones again then everyone will quite down..but until he does, he kinda deserves some critizism, LSU isnt a job you can just get "comfortable" in....It just looks like he is settling in and not working as hard, the team looks sloppy with penaltys and mistakes all the time, doesnt look like a very well coached team...Thats apart of his job and he is paid very well to have his job done...

I'll take a shot at this.

Because his last winning season was the first that did not post double digit wins (simply not good enough), he lost an SEC championship when his starting QB went down with injury in the 1st half of the championship game (also not good enough), he won SEC and National Championships with 2 losses (not good enough), he's only got us to BCS bowls half the time (apparently not good enough), he has not had a better recruiting class than Saban yet (definitely not good enough). Plus, his teams simply don't pass the eye test.

And oh, I almost forgot to mention - the main reason all this is not good enough is because he had Saban's magnificent talent, which should have yielded much better results. Any high school asst coach could have taken over that team and won 10 games a year at least, hell they probably didn't even need a coach, they could just just run out on the field and make plays.

For all these reasons, if you support Miles, your an idiot. At lease that's how the argument goes as far as I can tell.

Actually, this is the best reason for expectations to be so high. Maybe his yearly salary should reflect his yearly performance. And didnt he just give his coaches raises?

They are state employees. Raises have to be voted on, Miles can't just give them a raise.

Expectations can be high, rightfully so. He's making big money to produce big results, but to expect SEC and National championships every year or every other year is ridiculous given the competition LSU faces every year.

We knew our defense would be different this year because of Chavis. The chances were in our favor for having a better defense because last year the coaching was so poor.

So, the question is, what is going to change on the offensive side?

If we try more of the same, we will get the same.

We need to make another change on the offensive side.

Come on Prom. You know damn well that we are BY FAR the most talented team in the country. Hell, several NFL teams would trade for our roster right now. If we had even a HALFWAY decent coach, LSU would not have lost a game in 2005, 2006, 2007, or this year. We MAYBE would have lost 1 last year to Florida, but it sure as hell wouldn't have been by 30+.

For the past five years, our talent alone has won 50 games IN SPITE OF our "coach". Accepting 2 losses in any of those years is just plain settling. LSU is the best, and every day we settle for Miles, is another day keeping us from our potential of total world domination.
