As an LSU fan, I don't get LSU fans

We're ranked No. 8 in the BCS Standings.
We're 7-2, 4-2, with the two losses to the top 2 teams in the country, each game decided by 10 points or fewer. And we gave to those teams as good as we got (holding the No. 1 team in the nation to its lowest score in 5 years).
We are poised to finish 10-2, go to a New Year's Day bowl, and perhaps finish ranked in the Top 5 in the country.
We have one of best defenses in the country, only poised to get better. Our offense is improving with each game, and we finally have sound leadership with a quarterback who is all of 19 years old, following a decision that Miles must have known at the time would only be to his detriment- to kick a cancerous thug off this team. As a note here - does anyone remember where our offense & defense were a year ago at this time?
Our coach is being lauded in the press for his class, integrity and sportsmanship. He has provided LSU with some of its most memorable wins in history, has NEVER lost an embarrassing game (UAB, ULM or Oregon anyone?), but has pulled off some incredible wins, has never lost a bowl game, and on top of that, when he could have (and maybe should have) gone home to what surely must be his dream job -coaching his alma mater- he chose to be true to his team & this school. As a note, by my count there have been no less that FOUR (4) stories in national or non-Louisiana newspapers about how great Les Miles is handling this situation - including TWO in Nick Saban's backyard (while he, characteristically, blames the media & the press).
Finally, we are poised to reel in a great recruiting class following perhaps one of the greatest recruiting classes in LSU football history.
Yet here some of us are crying for a coaching change, questioning every play, every call, yelling for his head now for not yelling about the officiating, on and on...ONLY to the embarrassment of ourselves, our school and our team. WOW. As the old saying goes, "with friends like that, who needs enemies?"
Pathetic.

Great post Kappa. I agree with everything you said.

I don't have too many complaints so far. I agree alot of people are overreacting. But there is room for improvement....and that will almost always be true.

The Florida game was a horrid coaching job, and we arguably have superior talent to Alabama.

Offense was better and defense was worse

This should be read on all of those LSU radio shows playing in Baton Rouge...

Yes. A resounding "yes" to it all.

All things you said have truth to them and I like Miles a lot. My question to you and to others on the rant though is 10-2 with losses to Alabama and Florida good enough for you year in and year out? If Miles doesn't win those big games he's not here for the long haul. Two successive years (no matter what the reason as he was having great recruiting classes prior to Saban's arrival at Alabama) of losing to Florida and Alabama are not acceptable to most LSU fans any longer. We should not settle for 2nd best in either the West or the entire conference. If the losing continues to these programs regularly Miles should be on the hot seat, no question about it.

Please explain how it was so poorly coached? As for Bama's talent, at this point, I think Julio Jones is superior to Brandon Taylor; I think Mark Ingram is clearly superior to some of D-linemen. You can have "talent" all you want, but it doesn't do you any good when it gets hurt, & I don't think that Les Miles's fault.

That is absolute horseshite. Completely false. Our offense absolutely KILLED us in every game.
It's easy to move the ball up and down the field and rack up meaningless stats when you're losing by 24 points in the 2nd half and the opposing defense is in a loose zone the entire time.
We have been in slugfests this year and JJ is >>>>>>>>>> Lee could ever be. What a QB JJ is becoming!
