Y'all DO realize that coaches ARE allowed to rip refs, right?

They just aren't allowed to go to the press about it. There is a chain of command with any type of thing like this. If a coach has an issue with something, he goes to the commissioner about it. If he goes to the press about it, that's more of the Lane Kiffin & Urban Meyer (and yes, John Brady) department, and not so much Les Miles.
After the 2006 Auburn game, Miles said that he sent a letter and some tapes to Slive, but he was vague as to what; he did not publicly criticize officials (to his credit), but you can bet that he expressed his opinions to Slive.
The prevalent opinion that Slive is silencing SEC coaches is misguided. Slive is simply trying to minimize drama so as to avoid making the conference look bad.

And then they sweep it under the rug.

I don't prefer the sweep everything under the rug approach, but that's just me.
That being said, I'm sure Miles' will approach the issue with the upmost professionalism, which he will never get credit for, but which I appreciate none the less.

are you just flaming now?

quote:That's not a flame. There's this view that Slive is a dictator who actually controls the lives of the SEC coaches. That's not the case. You just can't go public about it...just like I can't twitter that my boss is a gaywad or something...

Too late. Slive is an idiot. LSU has always been treated like a bastard stepchild within the SEC.

Slive isn't Miles' boss. The only pressure Miles can put on Slive is public opinion. He should weigh the penalties associated with going public against the benefits should officiating problems be corrected.
Considering officiating has taken 2 games out of our control in 3 years. And those 2 games could have been the difference between a good season and a national championship season, it may be worth it.

NC, this fits in with his theological knowledge.

You start threads saying that bad calls did not effect the outcome of the game, basically telling posters that they shouldn't complain. Then you start this thread basically saying that complaints are warranted. But, weare wrong with how wewant it handled.
Yes, you are flaming. frick off.

Slive IS silencing the coaches and the SEC already looks bad. He is flying this plane into a building.

Allen Iverson would disagree.
quote:So they took the game out of our control? Did they take the game out of Bama's control by allowing us to block in the back on a 3rd down conversion on a scoring drive?
Considering officiating has taken 2 games out of our control in 3 years.
If you wanna be a hard arse and take points off the board for scoring drives where teams got away with shite, then the score at that point in the game should have been 21-8.

Better offials will keep the conference from looking bad!

I said one call is not worth nine points. The refs did not cost us the game. Literally everything including the length of the grass affected the outcome of the game.
quote:This is your second appearance in this thread. You've added nothing to it but your criticism of the thread, and you're accusing me of flaming?
Yes, you are flaming. frick off.
