Its almost fair to say that the offenses they have played this year are completely inept. That could make their D look decent. It is very uncharecteristic of the big 12 but every team in that conference has looked terrible except Texas.

how the hell does Texas of all schools not have a legitimate every down RB?

I live in Austin and they talk about this quite a bit on the local sports radio.

Texas won't "commit" to the run. They have their spread offense which McCoy runs very well. The O-line is molded to quick pass blocking and not plowing down the field. Plus, handing the ball off to the RB 5 yds deep without a FB in front of him isn't always the best way to gain yardage (unless your name is Demps, Rainy, or Moody).

Nate Newton's kid was playing well for awhile. Got nicked up and someone else fills in. It's a committe for UT.

These T-sips are begging for a 100 yd rusher!

It certainly doesn't hurt that they haven't played anyone outside of Tech and OSU with a good offense.
Both Tech and OSU moved the ball on UT pretty much all game, but UT has a knack this year of picking off passes and taking them back to the house.

I do think their D stats are inflated b/c of the competition. I think of it sort of like how they were going on and on about how dominate their pitching was last year leading up to the CWS final, but their offense couldn't hit homeruns b/c they played in such a big park. Well, if you play in a big park that definitely pads the pitching stats. You can't have it both ways.

(Let me know if that analogy is too deep for you guys...I keed I keed)

Stop cluttering up the Tiger Rant board.

On the left side, in the purple area, you will see something titled “More Sports Board”! Try it, you might like it.

who has florida played this year, lets see lsu and um ........... georgia who got beat by okie state thats 1 ranked team you sec homers. who has alabama played this year, well lets see virgina tech 1 ranked team again you sec homers you talk all this nonsense but who has lsu played this year oh they played florida and lost and there about to play bama so you have 2 ranked teams youll have played this year in regular season same as Texas who also has the highest margin of victory in the country by the way just in case you sec homers didnt know that which im sure you didnt, there d plays 20 more snaps per game than florida or bamas in the uptempo big 12 yet there last i checked #2 in total D and give up less yards per play the both of those teams, even though yall play in the run happy sec. Texas D and special teams led the nation in TD'S what more do you homers want its not there fault arkansas and utah backed out before season started arky backed out cuz Texas pissed in there mouth like 52 or 56 to 10 last year florida neeeds help of refs to beat them sad. but yall say florida, bama or lsu would shite on Texas. Who are you people?

Well dickfur, I was defending UT the whole time saying that your D was fo realz. I know that Arky and Utah backed out, thus leaving UT scrambling trying to find an opponent it didn't want. I gets this.

BUT, and I don't know if this has to do with the whole "Playing down to the level of competition" excuse, but UT has looked like garbage in the first half of every game (Except UTEP) for the first 6 or 7 games. UT can consider itself lucky that they did not have to play an Arky or Utah in that stretch b/c they could have easily been beaten. They simply wore down the shitty team in the 2nd half b/c they were more athletic.

I have been impressed with Texas D...I think Muschamp has done a great job. Special teams have always been good at UT.

I am interested in seeing UT go up against a Florida or Bama...go up against a team as athletic and physical and see what happens when a team punches them in the mouth for 4 straight quarters. Could Texas win? I think so, but it would be interesting to see.

Playing OU without Bradford and Gresham, OSU without Bryant (and for the most part Kendall Hunter), and the fact that the BIG 12 sucks worse than the ACC this year all favors UT TREMENDOUSLY.

ETA: This last point actually pisses me off more than anything. Everything just falls in place for UT this year...guranteeing them a free spot in the NC game.

dickfur? any way i was not talking to you, i thought you made some sense, but as far as big games or close games texas 15 of last 16 in games within 3 points and 19 of last 20 in games within 7 points so close games which a bama or florida vs Texas game probably would be Texas is as good as anyone.

IMO i think the Texas D is better than last year but not by much...IMO the BIG-12 as a whole is down this year...the offenses are not as potent as last year...also i think Bama and Florida could handle Texas basically like UF did Oklahoma last year and just were down the Texas D...but LSU/Texas game would be like the OU/Texas game earlier this year and end the same...texas by 3

that's fair IMO. I think the defenses are a wash, but UT does have more firepower on O.

To say Texas must suck because they have a shitty schedule is moronic. What the hell does that have to do with them being any good or not? Yes I agree they may not have been tested like UF, Bama, or LSU but that doesn't mean they would lose to any SEC team by 10pts.

Not really. They have CM who is a better qb than JJ at this point in their careers, but other than that where is the UT firepower? Shipley is a very good receiver, but so is LaFell, Tolliver and Randle. Texas really hasn't had a #2 WR step up. Running back, I would take our stable over UTs. I think LSU/Texas would be a great matchup (but I am biased obviously).

I never said they suck. I just think they will get beat easily in the NC game. We will find out most likely.

they are a solid team but IMO the Texas O is average without a running game(all UF, Bama, LSU) can shut down the passing game and we all know Texas cant run...But i believe UF and Bama would easly handle Texas by 10 and LSU/Texas a solid hard fought game coming down to a FG

Texas has a bad arse D. That being said they had an easy schedule this year. If Bradford had been health I think OU beats Texas, Colt and Texas off played like crap in that game and only won bc of the defense, I am a Texas Fan and was at the red river shoot out and the crowd chanted D fence at the end of the game bc they played there arse off. Texas and Lsu mirror each other they both have great Defenses and have struggled on Offense all year with the exception of their last two games. It is easy for texas fans to talk smack at this point bc they dont have another challenge. Bama to me is the most over rated out of the bunch there big win is Vtech they suck did you watch there game last night child please.

How would bama pass on Texas how would Florida pass on Texas? you cant beat that Texas secondary with mcelroy or tebows arm, and you cant beat Texas being 1 dimensional so i think these games would be defense slug fest.

Bama and UF have the best run Offenses this year....bama would just were them down and then UF runs the ball and then opens up the passing game and Tebow can throw the ball pretty good but the WR just aint the same caliber as they were last year

you make it sound so easy, TEXAS has best run D in nation and even though they have not played a bama or florida running game those teams havent played Texas run D. so you can say what you want but i dont see bama or florida beating Texas by just running the ball be serious, on top of that you think coach boom motherfricker is not gonna be able to come up with a plan to stop there 1 attack offense of just running the ball in a month of time to prepare?
