Texas fans seem to think that Muschamp is the new savior and runs the best defense in the country. Am I the only one that thinks that Texas (team as a whole) does not look nearly as sharp as last season? *The defense is much improved though.*

quote:

Personally I like the way Texas lines up against Florida. Our D will give their O fits the likes of which they simply have not faced yet.

I think Texas is legit. Not your typical big12 opponent.

Texas' D gets pretty damn good production for a big 12 team

im pretty sure Texas D didnt come close production wise before muschamp

i couldnt imagine a texas team sniffing a top 5 defensive ranking before him

you have to look at their opponents though. Their schedule has been horrendous, and the only two decent teams they played (OU and OSU) both had their best player out the whole or majority of the game. Bradford passed all over them on the first drive, ten got hurt. Dez Bryant didn't play at all against them.

Agreed. Very weak schedule in my opinion. They are full of Texas talent but I think Florida would kill them. Bama and LSU on a good day would compete pretty well too.

compete?? hell, i think all three would be them by ten, im sorry, there strength of sch is horrible, they havent played anyone...Most overrated team in the nation, thats why no one is talking about them...If they get in then they'll try to start the hype but it just aint gonna work...FL, Bama, and LSU have matchup edges everywhere...

Since watching the Mizzou game, I have been saying that Texas' D was champion caliber.

Texas' D is definitely legit. I am able to watch their games here in Austin when it does not coincide with LSU games. I am the first person to bash Texas every chance I get, but they are winning games b/c of their defense this year as opposed to the last few years when the offense dictated if they won or not.

Their entire defense from D line to safety is really really fricking good. REALLY GOOD. And their special teams is probably one of the best in the country...they block kicks more than anyone, and their return game is awesome (Shipley has returned punts and they have another blazer that also has returned kicks back for TDs) No one is going to dominate UT this year and this includes Florida.

Yes, their schedule is a freaking joke and they have struggled with some of the teams they have played, but that is more of the offense's fault rather than the D.

Again, I dislike the Horns immensely and root for them to fail evey week, but they are Legit.

Again, outside of the Mizzou game (now that we all no Mizzou isn't worth anything, much less anyone in the Big 12 North), they shut down their only two "legitimate" opponents who were missing their best players and pretty much whole offense.

The Big XII is that bad this year with Bradford and Bryant out. It rivals the Big Ten, for ineptitude in BCS conferences.

That being said, they are better than last year on defense, but they also have NOT faced any teams with offenses like OU, OSU, and TTech had last year.

I agree that UF, 'Bama and LSU would the horns. I live right smack in the middle of those folks. Like most other fans, they have difficulty staying objective...

you have to look at the fact that its been like that many times over the years and yet statistically their D still sucked

Yup. I agree with everything you said. They have played a terrible schedule and it only gets worse from here on out. But I have watched all of their games, and their D is 100% legit. I keep wanting them to fail.

Colt has looked medicore this season (compared to last year) but his numbers will increase dramatically cuz they still have to play UCF, Kansas, Baylor, and Aggie. Oh and the winner of the ultra talented North Division.

What pisses me off, is that UT struggled with crappy opponents for the first 7 games this year but basically out athleted (is that a word?) them. I am convinced if they had played anyone wiht a pulse early on they would have lost one of their games. This was all on the offense IMO. They have no running game to this date. For whatever reason, Colt is doing less running this year.

They seem to have figured things out on offense and no one is going to beat them until they get to NC game.

Defense is strong. I would love to meet them in Pasadena for the NC crystal.

Muschamp is making $900k this year and has been given the keys to the castle of an elite program. Why is he a traitor..cuz he left Auburn for UT? If you ask me, that is a great move.
