Driving to Tuscaloosa

Mapquest says it's about a 5 1/2 hour drive, does anybody have any tips or important things an LSU fan driving to Tuscaloosa should know? Roads/speed traps to avoid?
Also, is it legal to fly a flag from the bed of your truck? While it might come off as trashy, the idea of driving through Mississippi with a huge LSU flag seems appealing.

Take your Louisiana plates off.

Always speed traps around Laurel and Meridian. I don't know about any laws, but I'd advise against the flag in the bed of your truck. You'd be bringing unnecessary attention to yourself and be far more likely to be pulled over if you are going even 3 miles an hour over the speed limit. You should be able to make it to Tuscaloosa in under 5.5 hours though.

I don't think it's trashy. If I don't fly there, then I'm Jeeping it with flags a blazing!

I used to make the drive a lot. It would take me almost exactly 5 hours making one stop for gas and driving 5-10 MPH over the speed limit.

I drive it all the time.
Speed trap in Laurel. Speed limit drops from 70 to 40 right as you enter town on 59 and there is a curve comming from the south there will be cop waiting for you on the other side of that curve.
You can make it in 5 hours.
There are no points of interest on this trip.

If the sun sets during your drive, stop your car immediately, remove your costas and properly secure them in your bag for no one to see.

Remember this...Alabama State Troopers are Racist.
The saying goes, "If you're white, they will write."

Wait on the BQBQ until you hit TTown and grab a slab of ribs at dreamland or hit Cypress Inn (my favorite resturant in TTown)

That reminds me. Still have to pay my ticket in Alabama for the drive back from Athens.
And for the record, no construction workers were present on that Sunday.

Alabama State Troopers are ALWAYS around Fosters(Exit52 and Exit 62)
The cotton Patch resturnant in Eutaw exit 45 is terrific(order the Fried Chicken)
Greene County Greyhound Track to people watch--People smoking carrying their oxygen tanks, priceless!
