"Maybe the blame falls instead on Ryan Perrilloux, the much-ballyhooed recruit who was kicked off the team after the 2007 season. And that has some merits." Gary Laney 2theadvocate Oct 13, 2009

This is what I have been saying. It is the Perriloux effect. His departure has sent this team, esp the offense on a completely different course with very negative consequences.

I think him being off the team is an overall positive, I just feel for him to some degree.

You're right. The sad thing is, Miles did the right thing by booting him and it could ultimately end up costing him his job.

no...his departure and Lee's play last year put the team on a different course...

If Lee throws half the INT's that he threw last year, perhaps things are different...

Ridiculous. Any "top tier" team is no better than the backups. Its a coaching staffs responsibility to have capable backups.

Blame RP all you want. I blame the staff for not having an alternative plan EVEN though RP showed problematic behavioral signs LONG before he was dismissed.

If you look at the 05 and 06 signee list, quite a few are no longer on the team including 4 or 5 OL like Z. Thomas,J. Jones, Matt Allen and E. McCoy. Those guys were studs. I think all were 4 stars. How about Odom, Singleton and Giddens.
Loadholt just disappeared then re-appeared at OU
starting at left tackle - like magic. P. Jones, S. Corely, O'Hair, Deas. These guys were pretty good as I remember. That's a huge hole. I can understand losing 2 or 3 in each class, but 7 or 8 is too much fallout. Something stinks here.
Were these just bad recruiting decisions or is there something else going on? Thsese guys would be upper classmen now.

No QBs on team from 04,05 and 06. Not many teams can survive that, much less be ranked.

Not just Perrioloux, but people need to look at the signing class of 2005. We only had 13 signees that year and only 7 of them are still on the team (D. Beckwith has graduated).

quote:

Class of 2005:
Kyle Anderson TE The Woodlands, TX
Darry Beckwith LB Baton Rouge, LA
Ciron Black OL Tyler, TX
Chris Hawkins DB Walker, LA
Lyle Hitt DT Baton Rouge, LA
Trindon Holliday ATH Zachary, LA
R.J. Jackson ATH Houston, TX
Ricky Jean-Francois DE Miami, FL
Al Jones DE New Orleans, LA
Steven Korte RB Mandeville, LA
Brandon LaFell WR Houston, TX
Ryan Perrilloux QB Reserve, LA
Antonio Robinson RB Winnfield, LA

If you look at 2006's class, only R. Dickson, Charles Scott, A. Woods, KW, Pep Livingston, Jai Eugene, K. Shepparard, P. Riley, D. McCray and J. Cutrera are contributing. Those were two signing classes that have produced a few stars, but not a "solid" core for this team. The talent on this team is relatively young.

Good grief, you dipsticks are funny.

Let's blame Saban, then Russell (leaving early), RP, Hatch(for getting hurt), Lee(pick 6's). All are accountable and should be bitch-slapped for causing this team to be the worst offense in the conference this year.

:sigh:

naw this is fricking retarded. Its been 2 years and coaches cant use rp as some kinda crutch for their failure. bottom line is they didn't develop our qbs. Losing RP hurt last year but we had time to fix it and we didn't. this is on leslie and gary

I've seen plenty of teams who lose their starting QB to injury and while last year would be understandable, this year there is no excuse. Furthermore, the fact our OL is horrible has nothing to do with Perriloux leaving.

i do think rp could be part of the problem. we couldn't recruit a big time qb for two years just because he was on the roster. now we are stuck with our most experienced qb being a sophomore.

Perilloux only part of the problem..

04 - no qbs
05 - Perilloux
06 - no qbs

So, a three year span with no qb's at all.

Granted the thought of JR, Flynn and Perilloux made 06 recruiting hard, but it's a fact that we went 3 years with not a single QB added to the roster.

And 05 only had 13 recruits... that was all we could take that year... limited on scholly's due to the total number we had on the team.

Okay, so it had nothing to do with the Malveto decision. Nothing at all.

The bottom line is that if the departure of one player derails our program for two years, then the problems run deeper than that one player.

Of course we all knew it was Perriloux's departure that would put us in risky QB situation.
I support the dismissal of Perriloux and knowing what I know at this point, I would still not want him back.
It also shows who ill prepared we were as a program for a QB replacement. That is a coaching mistake as no team should have it's future on the shoulders of one player.
I hate that Lee would shoved into that position, when he he was no more prepared than any non starter on the bench. Right now I wish we had a look at Lee, as Jefferson has been figured out by D.C.'s and he will be neutralized with that similar 'deer in the headlights' again this season.

That is such bullsh!t! Miles is to blame for not having another QB on roster ready for the SEC..

So what if RP was here and blows out a knee in the first game of the year would people still be saying the same thing? Plus, wasn't RP's character a question mark anyway?

Most of the 'hate Perriloux' crowd on here will never admit it, but this is the main reason our QB situation sucked last year and this year... instead they make up lies and stories about him. He wasn't totally innocent, but he also wasn't as bad as people make him out to be. Probably deserved to get kicked off the team, but he doesn't deserve to be treated the way he has on here either.
