I think a more modern stadium would be nice but I know that most people think this is blasphemy. What are your thoughts?

I know it is, this is a hypothetical question.

It would have to be somewhere not on campus.

Nah..They can add all the upgrades they want to make it more "modern." But building another stadium..No thanks.

they could practically gut the stadium out and make all the upgrades they need to make it a modern stadium. I would support and still try to retain the old look.

I'm sick of this topic coming up once a month or so. You might as well tear down the White House while you're at it.

Thats such a great site. I used to go there a lot when I was in younger and thought about being an architect who designed stadiums.

I wouldn't really see the point...tear down the old concrete stadium and build a new concrete stadium...all you really need to do to an old stadium to make it new is pressure wash the shite out of it, bolt on new appurtenences (seats, etc.), and remodel the bathrooms and concession stands and you basically have a new stadium...the only real difference between old and new is cleanliness...

besides, after experiencing the clusterfrick that they call a bathroom on the west upper, I'd be afraid to let them touch anything else...

No No No NO!

At the rate and style they're going, encircling the upper deck would even detract from the original architecture. You can't even see the arches that make TS recognizable from behind the upper decking.

The worst atrocity would be to do a Soldier Field-like modernization. UGLY.
