Blitz Much?

Will we see a more aggressive defense that will bring the heat on Saturday? I hope we do away with this zone B.S. and play SEC style defense, which is always accompanied by the blitz. What do you all expect to see against UGA?

We have been pretty successful when we have blitzed. This zone garbage is not going to cut in the SEC. Sorry, but it seems like we are the only ones pulling this shite.

Dude, we blitz all the god damn time. I'm not at all happy with the play or coaching so far this year, but this is an illegitimate argument.

You only notice it when it works, then. Not trying to single him out, but I remember at least 4 times Cutrera blitzed against ULL and never got there. That's pretty common.

I'll take this defense over last years. At least we have 11 guys lined up when the ball's snapped. They have improved every week, as they become more comfortable, think less and react more. A few less 3 and outs by the offense might help too.

What should we be doing on defense? Right now it looks terrible. It's not like LSU lacks talent on the defensive side of the ball, so WTF is our problem?

Tackling. How many plays have opposing teams made where we had nobody around? Not many. The scheme is fine, it is the execution.

I thought we played pretty well Sat save a couple big plays, and a bit of their drive that ended with the stand. That drive you can chalk up to being gassed, they ran like 27 more plays than we did.

Coleman is a real good blitzer. He needs to be sent multiple times against UGA. Kelvin Shep is not a good blitzer...just a step too slow and stiff in the hips to change direction. Riley seems average at it. I think once Baker hits the field full time, he has the tools to be a real good blitzer. I'd rather send LBs on the blitz than one of our DBs. We are still letting WRs, backs, and TEs get behind us. I doubt we pull up Jones or McCray or Taylor for a blitz, but maybe we see a new wrinkle for UGA. They are definitely a different kind of passing team. Cox isn't a big threat to run like State's Lee was. With a QB like this, it seems your rush can be more agressive going up field.

I don't think that Georgia has a superior running game. So we could probably rush a linebacker or safety at times. It would be nice if the line could pressure Cox without the blitz.

I'm just speaking to the blitzing. I'm not saying we're very good on defense right now. Though I agree if we tackled better, we would be giving up much fewer yards. Also, our offense has really put the defense in a bind almost every game. Those dudes are gassed.
