Let's get serious. I'm a huge Tiger fan, but we have to take off the P and G shades. This team is clearly NOT the 4th best team in the country. I was hoping for 9-3, but now I'm not ruling out 8-4 or worse. The Georgia game should tell us a lot, but at the moment, I have to call them as I see them.

Carl, please give us your prediction for the UGA game.
Nice article, btw. I can't disagree with anything you wrote in it.

I am really happy for RP. I hope we win the the DII verion of hesiman. As for LSU we will be 10-2 or better. frick you haters who don't know about football

Chad Jones - a wonderful return. However, you cannot keep fielding the ball inside your own five yard line. The second time, it really put the Tigers in the hole.

I couldn't have made my point any better! Kuddos on your comment.

The talent is there but the disclipine and leadership of the Saban coached players left with them....and THATS the problem.
So LSU won a National Championship because we had a few leftover "disciplined" Saban players? Give me a break.

Thanks Carl for another good write up. I agree with you for the most part, and I appreciate you providing your perspective subsequent to your initial post in this thread on writing further about Perilloux.
1. Will everyone please get over Perilloux. That's not a question. It's a directive. We'd rather be dealing with our o-line issues, etc, etc, than dealing with our o-line issues, etc, etc, AND RP's behaviors, AND internal team strife because RP is RP. We all recognize talent. But please, please, please........do not forget the bigger picture.
2. See point #1 above.
3. I think Jarret Lee deserves more snaps, and should figure more prominently into the QB rotation.
4. See point #1 above.
LSU goes 8-4. 9-3 maybe. If things don't change in a big way for the LSU offense, Florida will still beat us easily without Tebow.
BTW, we all ought to send prayers to Tebow and family. Head injuries are not to be underestimated. Ever.

We have yet to see this offense play an SEC game on a field that is even somewhat dry. Unlike Carl, I think this is a major factor.
If it's dry between the hedges, the picture of our offense will be considerably clearer.

8-4????, can't be serious. Miles and coaches have seen there pitfalls and ,also made it through, at 4-0.Plus this week ,no rain, no 2300 miles,no airplane problems, and road tested. man you got to think, that D-Line must feel confident after the last 2 week goal line stances and plus the O-Line and O-line new comers gonna bring it.

I agree "get over Perilloux" No matter what his new coach says he is a cancer. He was suspended for his first game this year! Did you ask his new coach if he "respects" that? Quarterback IS NOT our issue. Jefferson would be fine if he had some time and protection. You are WAY off base with the Perriloux issue.
By the way it is "dreadlocks of Doom" not "dreadlocks of dread"

Why? And I'm not going to start shite talking Lee b/c it took balls to come back and compete and I respect the hell out of the kid.
But until Jefferson starts costing LSU football games b/c of erratic play, I see no reason to pull him in close games.

It is utterly ridiculous to ascribe LSU's current offensive struggles to RP's absence.
RP was dismissed from the team in the spring of 2008. The coaches have had two full springs, two full fall camps, one full season, and four games to remedy his absence.
I hardly need to point out that other programs have successfully replaced departing starters in a much shorter time period. To wit, Landry Jones at Oklahoma has been fantastic since Bradford was unexpectedly injured in the Sooners opener. The examples are boundless.
The staff should have recruited and developed sufficient back-ups for RP, ESPECIALLY since it was completely foreseeable that RP might be dismissed from the team, given his history of behaviour.
IF (and that is a big IF) this season goes awry, RP cannot be held out as the reason.

LSU needs motivation! Miles needs to expect nothing but the best from his team because we all know the level of talent they are all on. Where are your balls Les? What happened to the plays that left Spurrier in shock and the rest of the SEC coaches in disbelief. I believe we can beat every team...except for maybe Florida...in the country...the team just needs to believe that too
