so don't get to wistful about what "woudl've been" had RP kept his nose clean and been able to stay at LSU.

We are not dealing with what we wish was, but what is. Had Miles not dealt with RP the way he did, RP might be quarterbacking, but at the detention center. Hopefully, RP can finish his work and reach his full potential. LSU will be, with or without RP.

'Final Thoughts About Perrilloux'.
You could have just put the Serenity Prayer here in the place of all that useless self-loathing jibberish I just wasted my time reading in that segment. Are you and JEAUXBLEAUX related?

Cunning...about my Omaha comment, it was intended as an inside joke to a good friend who frequents this forum. In fact, I see he's on here right now.

Next time, I'll make sure to put you in the loop. I wouldn't want you feel left out.

good read....

we forget that every year a new group of players has to learn how to jel with one another.

and every year that jelling takes perhaps and entire season of games... just as every other team in college football does. It couldn't be more self evident that the turnover of teams in the top 10.

I remember the past two LSU NC teams going through these trials and tribulations and was proud of the fact they found ways to pull it together and win.

Perhaps, we need to sit back and cherish the small but vital accomplishments they make week after week....

I for one believe it will happen....and see a 12-0 team

Good read. Carl.

I agree with a few others that this team seems to have lost it's killer instinct that it once had. Far too many blown opportunities to put the game away.

The goalline stand will be looked at as the turning point of the season as we win the SEC west

I disagree with your thought that having a veteran quarterback that could stretch the field wouldn't make a huge difference in the Tigers offense. With the receivers that we have Ryan P.would be throwing for over 300 yards a game and that would open up the running game. Jordan Jefferson is still a few years away from being a Ryan P.

Miles was applauded when he booted him, and rightly so. He did the right thing, but as we all knew at the time, there were going to be consequences. LSU lived with them last year and died with them, and they're living with them now. The meat of the SEC schedule will underscore those consequences again.

This is an example of why it isn't an easy thing to dismiss a player who can make that big a difference. If LSU were averaging 45 points a game, the tone on this site would be much more upbeat, and the rest would be window dressing.

I hear what you saying....

But I am much more concerned with the lack of run defense and line play than anything else....but saying that I have faith they will improve

Gotcha.
It's probably a good time for me to say I didn't randomly decide to bring Perrilloux into the column. He was playing in Louisiana for the first time since he left LSU, and AP asked me to cover the game. Watching him and LSU on the same day drove home a few connections that I knew wouldn't be obvious to people who didn't watch both on the same day.

I chose to stay away from some of the obvious for that reason, and because if I wrote what everyone else wrote, Chicken probably wouldn't want me to write for him.

I doubt I'll visit the topic again anytime soon, but yesterday it felt like an interesting way to look at one of the less obvious influences upon the quality of this team.

Good article Mr. DuBois, but by Rant standards you have just crossed into negatiger territory.

Welcome to the dark side.

I have done a lot of running my mouth about what I think is wrong with LSU this year. I've also done a lot of thinking about what I'm viewing as a problem and the one thing I'm thinking is that we're looking at change. LSU isn't looking like LSU has always looked in the better part of the last 9 or so years. That's change. But change doesn't have to mean bad or scary or decline. At this moment in the season, LSU is unbeaten and ranked pretty highly. We should enjoy this and congratulate the players and our wonderful staff of coaches for getting the Tigers to this point unscathed. We anxious fans (speaking for me) need to take a breath and allow the rest of the season to unfold as it will, without pulling the emergency cord and bailing out or demanding heads should roll. At this most reasonable moment in my existence, I can say these things.

But, if things go "south" next week, can I live up to my high words today? I and first a Tiger fan, win or lose, and I am going to go with our team and our coaches. So GEAUX TIGERS!!! And beat them Dawgs!

Great read as always..

Shep getting more touches wouldnt make that much of a difference.

Chavis is still the issue.

We scored enough points. Our defense looked like a swinging gate at times. THATS the problem.
Sure the goaline stand was nice, but we should have never been in that situation, period.

We have more or as much talent as anyone in the country. We dont play like it though.

I predicted 9-3 this year. I thought that was a worst case prediction. Now at 4-0, because of the way we are playing, I hope we start playing better to end 9-3. The talent is there but the disclipine and leadership of the Saban coached players left with them....and THATS the problem.

Now Saban with less talent, has them playing better than LSU with much more talent.

Coaches, I hope you are ready for Sunday morning!! All eyes are on you to fix this.

We are a fork in the road.. Do we change directions back to a winning top program or do we slide back to the middle of the pack as many suggested we would, once the well coached Saban players left... its up to you coaches....

says who? he used a fake ID and got into an altercation when the mother of his child was threatened. That we know.

What do you know that he did, for a fact, other than this?

I am glad we pulled this one out...but Georgia won't be so forgiving...they put up 41 against south carolina's defense...we need much better offensive execution and more stops on 3rd and 10 from our defense if we are gonna have a shot
