if he would have stayed on that side of the ball? At this point we certainly could have used him.

As bad as we need him on the DL, we need him just the same on the OL.

Yes he would have been good at DT.

He looked like a monster at DT in the '07 spring game. I was initially shocked when he made the position switch.

Jesus Christ, how was that a slam at the coaching? All I said was that he looked great at DT in the spring game. I was shocked that he made the switch, but I was also excited about that athleticism at the tackle position.

But I still think he'd make a bigger impact at DT, so GFY.

Whats the safest #1 draft pick in the NFL? Whats one of the most important positions on a football team? A left tackle.

Did he do that? Look to me that he stated his opinion without questioning the coaches at all.

Some of ya'll need to chill the F out.

he's one of those guys who prolly needed to get big/fat to like 330 to maximize his potential

that wouldn't work here though

I'm sick of some of you pricks that think just because somebody says something about a player that it automatically questions the coaching. I'm with ya Fast Eddie

GFY

And this goes for everybody else who thinks every LSU fan always questions coaching.
Get over yourself.

And to answer the question:

I would have liked to see Joe at DT. That's what he was recruited to play at LSU. But we all know that doesn't always work out. For example:

Joe Addai was recruited to play RB. He did until Broussard and Vincent showed out in games and Saban moved him to WR out of necessity. Now he is a starting RB in the NFL. shite happens. Is that bad coaching by Saban or is that getting your best athletes on the field in space? That's making the most of what you have.

+1

I remember that too. He was ridiculous, but then again, you can never tell who's going full speed in those things, or why.

FWIW, Addai was the starting running back in 2003 until he hurt his knee against Florida at home and Saban was FORCED to play Vincent and Broussard (and Barrington Edwards for that matter) on the road at South Carolina. Shy Carey had been the #2 back but had hurt his knee the previous week in Starkville. When Broussard and Vincent looked great at SC, Saban played them while Addai and Carey healed. As well all know, Vincent went on a tear for the remainder of the 2003 and Addai was used somewhat at WR...but he never made the full on season long switch to that position.

I don't think so.

Here's why:

1. Typically tackles with 'good feet' and athleticism end up on the left side. He is the right tackle. I take that to mean he's not as quick as some of the other guys we have on the interior DL.

2. People who far more skilled at judging football talent than ANYONE on this board (who does not coach FBS ball or scout for an NFL team) decided he wouldn't.

He's solid and he's a Tiger.

Geaux Barksdale!

I hate to say, I think he would be Al Woods v.2.0. Maybe a little better than Woods, but similar IMO.

He plays RT because we have a first rounder, four year starter at LT. I suspect that Barksdale will play LT next year.

BTW, Addai was recruited as an athelete, played Fullback because we had Toefield and DD. Then he was moved to tailback with S. Carey and they both got hurt and JV & Broussard got playing time. When Addai came back he split time and then got his starting spot back his Sr. year.

nah, we're gonna bulk up Mitch Joseph and put him there.

seriously, nothing about Barksdale says LT to me, I think Faulk or Shaw will probably be the next LT (or Mitch!)

People are going to be shocked if they think Black will be a first rounder. He could be this year's Herm/Highsmith (though he will get drafted) draft faller.
