Cooper is ahead of Chavis for me, as far as a better hiring.

I wish the rumors about him being interesting in our DC job last season were true

I don't get the rant...
You complain constantly about how poor your offense is, but you wish you'd hired the DC that gave up their highest point output of the season on his homefield.

There were rumors?
Man, that would've been awesome.

I agree vol fan. These rantards have not yet given chavis a fair shot. It will take a little time to get all his schemes in place and yes i do know that he already has the talent.

Chavis is fine and our defense does seem improved from a points allowed perspective but damn we have had some serious bending without breaking so far.
I still wanted Ken Norton Jr.

It is a little early to give them a fair assessment.

Too soon to tell, for any of them. Let's check back at the end of the season.

if the past is a barometer of what has been talked about here, this is what i've come up with. i could have used other resources, using lack of time as an excuse for myself...
LINK (young a Tiger at heart and being the grandson of Buster Crabbe, I’d say he comes from a family of great athletic genes.)
LINK (has done some excellent work as an asst. coach, is still young and with a little luck will probably be a Major college H.C. some day.)
LINK (Noting on his age here but I’d say he is about 55)
LINK (two interesting side notes of M.K., hews D.C. in N.O. in 1995 and his b/day is Feb. 29 so he is just over 17 years of age….lol)
LINK (Chief being a Native Minority seems to have the hardest road or all of these guys & age is not on his side to ever be a H.C. at a major college.)
Ron Cooper is 47 yrs. of age, has been around a lot of different college teams, I might add some pretty good ones. Has been a head coach earlier in his career for a major and also for a couple of Div. II programs. Ron could get back to that level since he too has a tiger attitude.
Greg Hudson is 42 and is currently coaching at East Carolina working for Skip Holtz as his D.C. Greg has also served as a defensive assistant at Minnesota, Cincinnati, and Connecticut. He played college football at Notre Dame, where he was a two year starter at linebacker for Lou Holtz who came in after the fiasco or Gerry Faust five previous years as their head coach.

I've been a fan of Texas' DC. He won the NC in 2003.
