The Athens police are cracking down on open containers. I understand that if you leave the tailgating area and walk on the sidewalks and streets, you will get stopped. Be warned.

I would hope that if it's in a cup you're ok. If not, I always forget how awesome it is to live in LA, and just be able to walk anywhere with a drink.

Its not just other schools. On parade grounds this past weekend, cops were carding everyone. Never seen that before at LSU.

Been walking around there for years with an open container and never had a problem, but have not been to a game there yet this year.

Yeah no kidding. Before I went to LSU I went to UK for a year and drove down to UGA for a UK basketball game in Feb 2001, got busted as soon as we parked the car and hopped out with a beer in hand. Cops on bikes are the worst.

As long as you're near your car or tailgating spot, there are no problems. Don't walk the street with a can or bottle of beer. This ain't the Quarter.

We're looking forward to a good time with our LSU friends coming over for the game. I can't wait for the jambalaya they bring, too!

Kiddin' me? Athens is FULL of bars. After all, it IS a college town. Go downtown to College Avenue, get out, and walk. You'll run into the bars (or the drunks) in no time.

Thanks. We've got a 15 passenger van rented for our tailgate, right across the street from where the players get off the bus for the Dawgwalk. In 2004 there was a band jamming right next to our spot that fronts Baxter St. We'll have 6 Dawgs and 8 Tigers in the van, plus another23-50 in our taingating spot. We will be on opposite ends of Sanford Stadium from ya'll, but wave if you see me. I'll be in Red and Black.

Oh, yeah, if you bring good Louisiana food, I might be drawn to the smell. My Mother grew up in NOLA (God rest her soul), and it's in my blood).
