Traditionally, the LSU band would march down Victory Hill, stop, and start playing those 4 notes that defines LSU that we all love. Once the tempo of the song picks up (right about the time the crowd starts to chant "LSU" LSU" LSU"), the band would run (actually jog) into the stadium. I have always liked this...it was like the band was getting pumped up to do their part during the game and couldn't wait to get inside.

I received my daily TAF e-mail that said things will be different this year. After the band marches down the hill, they will then go into the PMAC to play for the TAF members.

Apparently the band will no longer run into the stadium after playing "Hold that Tiger" as they have done for as long as I remember.

That really sucks. So I guess all the fans follow the band into the PMAC ?

Seems to me it would be easier to tell the TAFers that the band will be coming down the hill in 10 minutes. If you'd like to see them, make your way outside.

They use to play for TAF and then go down the hill. Don't know why they would change it from that.

The band has always played for the TAF members in the PMAC. It's just that they did it before their march down Victory Hill....not after.

That is one of my favorite things about LSU. Anytime I have taken someone with me to an LSU game that has never been we do three thing. Eat good food at different tailgates, go to see Mike, and watch the band run down the hill.

I think it is bad to get rid of this for a bunch of old blue hairs that want you to come kiss their arse for a check.

nothing against the band, but im not really sure why the TAFers really care all that much about watching the band before the game for their own private performance.

here is what actually will happen... we will run down the hill like normal...we will do the go step ( looks like we are running in place) like normal...cadence will end and we will condense into 4s like normal. then instead of marching into the stadium on a candence we will march to the pmac where we will play for taf..then we will march back across the street into the stadium... it wont be a big difference

What on earth was the reason given for changing? Makes no sense to me.

Even if this is somehow slightly logistically better it makes no sense to march down the hill and then go to the PMAC.

The band has BEEN doing that, for years. I go to PMAC as a TAF member. Once they perform the half time show for us, they march out and go to the top of the hill to march down, banging the drums and playing those 4 famous notes. Then, they play Fight for LSU and start jogging, all to the drum beat.

At least, that is the way it has been. Do you know for sure THAT is changing??

Uh no.

They always do this. They march to the PMAC and then come out from the back and come down the hill. I cannot see this being any different.

Besides, I saw them practice the run down the hill in preseason camp. They wouldn't have practiced the tradition if it weren't being continued.

ETA: That is gay, t0005. GAY I SAY.
