Just read this quote from Ciron Black about the Wild Tiger! Gets me pumped up for Saturday night. Would love to see it. I wonder if we're fortunate enough to be up by a good margin in this game, if we're going to see it this week or would we hold off for our tougher opponents. What say you?
quote:

"It's going to gash a lot of people. They're not going to see it coming. The scheme the coaches got in right now is phenomenal." LSU tried the wildcat a few times last season with running back Richard Murphy, but Shepard's explosiveness could make it a big-play weapon. "All I have to do is get my block for a half-second, and the guy (Shepard) is 20 yards down the field," Black said. "That's how fast he is. It's happened so many times in practice."

People like to use the term "wildcat" very loosely

uhhh Yes we did. There wasn't necessarily a man in motion but Murphy did play quarterback several times in that formation.

I'm worried about our defense against Florida and Ole Miss after reading this.

Does LSU go 1's vs. 1's?

Yes we did, and it worked for positive yardage only the very first time we ran it, mainly because Murphy never pitched the ball but just ran with it. Very predictable.

who was he going to pitch it to? it was a HB-direct run

Yeah, and before that, it was the "Wild Doucet"...

That's the essence of the Wildcat package

The wildcat does not neccessarily means the option. It's just a fancy name for the single wing. Though I agree the term "wildcat" is overused. A simple direct snap is not the wildcat.

Can we just agree to call it by the original name of Wildcat?

BTW, snapping it to dick Murphy to run for a 1 yard gain and not even sending someone in motion is NOT the wildcat.

I like how Ryen Rusillo calls it "The Annoying Term" formation

The wildcat is only for teams without a decent normal offense.
