Ate there on Saturday. Good food, clean, and the girl behind the counter was real friendly. Definitely going back soon!

Their PCS are very good, however, I wonder if you can make it in BR limiting yourself to one special sandwich which isn't that well known here. I know they have other menu items, but to the drive by public, they sell PCS.
For example, if you named yourself "Jack's Shrimp Po'boys", you may offer a full line of sandwiches, but your name limits your sales potential somewhat. You can obviously do it well limiting yourself to hamburgers and fried chicken, not so sure you can so it with a Philly cheese steak.

All I know is Tigahrag continuously pimps this place, and because of him, I frequent it.

Tried it last night. Cheese steak was excellent. I'll definitely be back.

I would rather a place do one thing very well than do many things mediocre. I hope they do survive because I like there PCS

I need to make a trip out there and try it.
"Philly Me Up" on Jefferson at Drusilla is very good as well. I'd recommend it.

I love South of Philly. It is the most authentic PCS joint I've ever been outside of the real thing. I might go get me one today!

The most overrated food place in the history of the Food and Drink Board in my opinion.

How is it overrated?
-Good meat/bread/options for cheese
-great fries
-nice little atmostphere
-good service

quote:i disagree. i went to pinetta's because i read a few people rave about it on here. it sounded like my kind of place. local. hole in the wall. etc. i even gave it a second shot. I didnt care for the food either time, even tho i liked the atmosphere and the dude strumming on his guitar all night, i would go there if i could avoid it.

meat & bread were nothing special
fries were average at best
again, this is just my opinion, and my opinion is obviously not shared by the masses.

I haven't been to Pinetta's since it changed ownership several years ago. If it's basically the same as it was before, than I agree with you...DiGiulio Bros is another place that I think is overrated.

I have gone there hoping to have a great experience that its regular patrons swear by. however, i have found it to be less than satisfactory. went there multiple times to try the osso bucco. they have yet to have it when i went there. last few times I left because thats what i really wanted. i dont think the food is inedible, but i think its under seasoned

Tried SOP's PCS for the first time last Friday. It was DEFINITELY Something special!! Me and the wife liked it so much, we got it again Saturday!
My only complaint is price. I understand there's nothing that can be done. Premium ingredients are expensive. I just find it hard to pay 26 bucks for 2 sandwiches, fries and drinks. Same can be said for most poboy places. Weren't these sandwiches invented for people who couldn't afford a good lunch?
I thought this was America.
This place is a sure "must try" for everyone who is a fan of PCS, and by leaps and bounds the best I've had in the city!

Ate there today, same as usual.
Good sandwich, not awesome by any means.
IMO, its a tossup between PMU and SOP
