article under their college football page right now says Ole Miss is the ONLY Sec West team to not make it to Atlanta.

They won the West in 1998 (the epic Tepper meltdown year and we still beat them 41-6 
). Played Tennessee off their feet and lost 24-14, the year UT won the first BCS title game.
Co-Champs that year with Arkansas,who lost a heart breaker in Knoxville and then in Starkville a week or so later.

Moot point for this discussion b/c State has made it to the SECCG (1998), but Auburn represented the West in '97 and barely got beat by Can't-beat-Florida Peyton Manning.

was is 96 or 97 where we would have represented the west in Atlanta if Bama could have just beaten Auburn in the Iron Bowl and they had the game won but Bama stole defeat from the jaws of victory and we had to wait several more years to go to the SEC champ game. I remember watching that game and being so pissed off about that.
