Went for the first time today, I don't get the love for this place. Food was average, service was pitiful, and that is being kind. The biggest aggravation was the tables, they are entirely too small. 2 adults and 2 children and there literally was not enough room for our plates and drinks. Did I mention that the service was pitiful?

Wasn't a complicated order at all, philly poboy, lablt, and 2 kids plates. It took over an hour to get the food to us, and my wife ordered onion rings and they didn't bother to bring them out until she was done with her sandwich. In the hour we sat at the table we saw the waitress like 3 times.

I don't know about their sandwiches, but I like the specials and the boiled seafood a lot.

An hour is way too long on a couple sandwiches tho.

I've been going since it opened and I have never had a bad experience. Foods ok. Not great but good.

Same thing happen to me last time I went there. We didn't get our onion rings until we completed our entrees.

I like the place, but agree that the service is slow.

The pot roast lunch special and the chicken fried steak lunch special are still really good deals though. It seems like they staff up during lunch and it doesn't take quite so long.

i put this in the category for decent local place. its in the sme tier as chelsea's. i dont go for the service for either place. I go to get a decent piece of grilled seafood for a decent price.

I've been to the one is Zachary and the new one in Central. Both are above average but Central has been much better than any of them.

The only thing I believe in your whole whiny post is that your wife probably ordered onion rings.

Danglingfury I think you hit the nail on the head. Sammy's food is solid, Not great but they have always been a quality meal. One bad experience throughout all of these posts is still a good average.

His post seems pretty accurate to me. Perhaps you should concentrate on improving the service.

I haven't been to Sammy's in a while but really loved there boiled crawfish the last time I was there. Can't wait to try it again.

If he had such a bad experience, he should have gotten someone to get his server, or asked for a manager vs. sitting there like a douche while his wife was going hungry. Who the frick sits in a restaurant for an hour while they're missing part of their order? That's why I don't believe him.

ETA: I don't work there, but it is one of my two favorite watering holes.

The thing about Sammy's is that the food is pretty good, the service is bad, and the regulars are douchebags.

I'm not one of the guys that eats lunch there has a few drinks, goes back to work, goes to eat dinner there, has a few more drinks, and feels the girls asses while I'm there.

You must go pretty often if you know who the "regulars" are.
