BTW LSU LOST the game AT AU in 2006 because of PLAY CALLING!!!! NOT THE REFS!!!!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
have to disagree with you on that one. we did have a lot of weird shite called against us in that game.
I firmly believe that team was our best team of this decade. Just had a couple of bad breaks by refs at Fla as well. Remember the Jacob Hester "non-catch" and the mauling that Lafell took in the endzone, as well as the doucet play.

BEEN A LOYAL FAN SINCE 1971!!!! BUT I am realistic. I LOVE LSU. But I hate the so-called LSU fans that think they should WIN EVERYGAME, and if they lose ITS ALWAYS the refs!!!! SAD!!!

I agree with that post, I am not a unrealistic fan either, though we all, those who love college football can have momments of perhaps insanity.

USC basically plays a home game in the Rose Bowl every year against Michigan, does that count??

LSU vs Illinois - W
LSU vs OU - W
LSU vs ND - W
LSU vs OSU - W

Common theme outside of winning? The location was in New Orleans every time. Anyone who wants to pick at USC or LSU for where their BCS games are played have to do so for both.

Sorry but championships is how I calculate teams success. He has 3 teams ahead of teams that have won TWO Championships!!!!!! And no, 2003 does not count for USC. The SEC has won almost half of the Championships in the last 10 years yet he has the Big 12 and Big 10 ahead of the SEC. What a JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you made a composite of the final Coaches' Poll from every season since 2000, the list would be:

1. Texas (1 No. 1, 6 Top 10, 9 Top 25)
2. USC (1 No. 1, 7 Top 10, 7 Top 25)
3. Oklahoma (1 No. 1, 6 Top 10, 8 Top 25)
4. Ohio State (1 No. 1, 5 Top 10, 7 Top 25)
5. Georgia (0 No. 1, 6 Top 10, 8 Top 25)
6. LSU (2 No. 1, 5 Top 10, 6 Top 25)
7. Miami (1 No. 1, 4 Top 10, 6 Top 25)
8. Florida (2 No. 1, 3 Top 10, 9 Top 25)
8. Virginia Tech (0 No. 1, 4 Top 10, 8 Top 25)
10. Michigan (0 No.1, 4 Top 10, 7 Top 25)

Mathematically, only Texas, USC, and Oklahoma are still in contention for the top spot with 1 season left to play.

You can't punish OU for losing their game in the CG

This is where you lose all credibility. They were embarrassed in their championship game. If it were a descent game, I would agree with you. It wasn't.

USC will seal the deal this season with a 27-13 win over UF in the BCS CG. LSU will lose to the Domers in Cap One.

But look at their number of conference championships and BCS wins compared to the others in the discussion (USC, OU, OSU, UF, and LSU).

IMO, this is what it's like, as of now, entering the final year of the decade (and before somebody corrects me by saying the decade has two more seasons, that's technically true, but you don't say the 90s and include 2000, the 80s and include 1990, etc. This is, for all intents and purposes, the final season of the decade for college football starting in 2000).

1-3: USC, UF, LSU
4-5: OSU, OU
6: UT

If any of these 6 teams wins the NC, THEY ARE the team of the decade. If someone else wins it (i.e. Bama, Oklahoma St, etc), then the "title" will go to the top 3 team (UF, LSU, USC) that had the best season. IMO, of course.

Maybe now with ND joining, the Big 10 can have a championship game.

Call me Bias,
1) LSU , 1st to win 2 BCS Crystal Balls
2) UF , 2nd to win 2 BCS Crystal Balls
3) OU , for most appearances despiting losing most 1-3, not getting into if deserved in 03 lol
4) UT , for at least Beating the team thats below them
5) USC, IF HAD TO CHOOSE #5, because of their lack of conference competition facing no defense basically , and constantly playing a lousy BIG 10 conference in bowls

The honest to God truth is that both of LSU's "national championships" were of questionable validity. You backed into both games and in neither case was your opponent the best team in the country at the time. Plus you played them both on what was effectively your home field.

I don't think you should be ranked higher than #5 and there is no question that USC should be ranked #1. Florida should be ranked #2.

And this is NOT a flame, just an honest assessment......

Now putting Utah at #10 IS a joke......

Maybe 2007, but not 2003.

No, they were not. USC would have easily beaten either OU or LSU that year.....and they were rightly ranked #1 in both major polls at the end of the season.

LSU only ended up being ranked #1 in the coach's poll because the system required coaches to vote for the winner of the BCS championship game....but if they had voted their consciences, there is no question that USC would have been rated #1 in that poll after the bowls, just as it was in the AP poll.

Heck, even Dubya invited the USC team to the White House as well as the LSU team despite it being a politically questionable move.......because he saw that an injustice had been done.....
