I know it has been said but it can't be empasized enough...GET THERE EARLIER.

I don't care if you have to rent bikes you have to get there earlier. A bus ride from NO at the time will probably take well over 2.5 hours. It would probably take over an hour just to get from the interstate to campus.

If you are flying out of NO on Sunday just rent a car and find a hotel to sleeep in BR for Sat Night. That way you won;t have to drive back after the game.

That is exactly what I'm likely to do now based on all the input. Thks.

It doesn't feel like a Saturday Night in Death Valley unless I'm in my seat early enough to hear Callin' Baton Rouge. ~30 minutes.

LINK

Then again, I'm fighting to get good seats in the student section.

Has G. Brooks ever played that in Tiger Stadium? That would be cool live before the game.

1) Reconsider travel plans to arrive earlier (will try to do this based on number of comments)

If you take anything away from this thread, this is it. Leaving NOLA at 12 puts you in BR at 1:15 with no traffic. By the time you get to campus on a bus it'll be 2:30. I'd definitely leave tailgating to go walk to the stadium at 5:30pm at the latest, but I've seen the band a million times. Leaving for the stadium at 5:30 probably means you won't even see the band walk down the hill with the amount of people that will be on campus.

That leaves you about 3 good hours of tailgating. I'm trying to put myself in a visitor's shoes and I can tell you this: 3 hours is nowhere near the amount of time you are going to need to get the whole LSU/Tiger Stadium/tailgating experience.

Anyway, hope you have a great time.

also just remember that there was 150,000+ on campus in 2007 for the LSU vs UF game and it's probably going to be the same or bigger this year (espically if we beat UGA)

Arrive early. Walk through the tailgate areas and let your nose do the work. When you smell something you like just go talk to the tailgaters and let them know that this is your first trip to Tiger Stadium. You will not go hungary. Cajun people always cook way more food than they need. You usually get all you can eat and all the adult beverages you can drink. Tiger fans are as passionate about their team as the Gator fans.....but they are equally passionate about the SEC. I guarantee you that 99.9% of the LSU fans were Gator fans when you played for the two BCSNCs. You may also want to watch the band march to the stadium and see Mike the Tigers new habitat. Be sure not to miss pregame inside the stadium. Thank God this is the last year we'll have to face Tebow. Good Luck and enjoy the game.

please let us know where you will be so we can pelt you with PissBallons, put you in a portapotty and tip it over and bring your youngest children so we can frighten them with tigerbait chants as they grab your leg and beg you to remove them from the evil clutches of tiger fans

First off, keep in mind the game will most likely be picked up by CBS so it will be a 2:30 kickoff. Try to leave NOLA before 10 or 11.

If you are late and/or don't have a parking pass, park at University High. They usually have spots available later in the day. Walk towards the stadium with beer and bourbon in hand (you will pass the parade grounds, Indian mounds, not to mention about 50,000 tailgater's) and soak up the atmosphere, eat some good food and absorb some friendly fire from opposing fans.

-Make your way down the hill to the stadium to see Mike in his cage

-Watch the band come down the hill and enter the stadium

-Be in your seat to see the band pre-game and teams enter the field.

-Go to Walk-Ons after the game (walking distance from stadium). It is a huge party (all ages not just college crowd). Live music, good drink, etc.

Have a blast and I will see you in the Swamp next year.

Dude, there is some serious BS on here.

1. You WILL BE Tigerbaited to no end regardless of you or your family are acting.
2. DO NOT go over to Mikes Cage. Thats the north end of the stadium and the students hang out there. They are the rudest crudest bunch you will ever find. Go see the Tiger cage on Friday, not gameday.
3. Sharing the food and drink-never had anything offered. I've never said one word to anyone other than how are you and some idiot jumps in my face everytime and says something intelligent like "Better than you Gump" or something. Heck with food, just get in the stadium. The tiger baiting and getting in your face is so incessant that you wont be thiking of food or drink.
4. Be prepared, if you have a wife or girfriend for nasty things to be said to her.

I have been a few times and have vowed to never go back. I actually fell threatend there and it aint worth it. It could be the greatest road trip but the fans make it absolutely miserable. you will feel this way too.

If you dont believe me, just ask other fanbases. Even your own.

The game has been at 8'o clock the past couple of years and Cbs has already indicated that it will be at 8 primetime again this year.
