calling bullshite on that. Our fans pelt opposing fans with piss balloons, knock over old ladies, and steal candy from little kids
Ya'll aint so tuff....(though I'd be happy to tell people we were showered with piss bombs and batteries if it'd make you feel better)

Glad you enjoyed it (though I wish you'd not enjoyed the ending quite as much.) Aren't you glad we saved the piss balloons for Bama?
I even brought my rain jacket....
Thanks!!! (From a visiting FL fan)

I posted on here prior to my visit looking for advice. Got overwhelming response, mostly sincere. Thought I'd give quick update on my visit.
I came down with 7 guys from work, none of whom were either UF or LSU grades (I'm UF grad). I have to tell you we had a great time and that there are now 8 more bigtime LSU fans on the this earth (though for me it's only when UF is not playing).
The LSU fans we encountered from the Limo lot (lot W where we parked) to the RV lot to various tailgating sites around the stadium we got to were ALL ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. I cannot begin to tell you what a positive impression you all left on our group. Yes, we got Tiger Baited (though it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be), but that was part of the fun. The fans were just fantastic and almost all treated us all like we were long lost family. I'm embarrassed to say, the only idiot fan we ran across was a UF fan in the RV lot that only seemed to want to harass people. :banghead:
The food was awesome and when we ran out of beer far away from our tailgating spot, there was always someone volunteering to give us some of theirs. Everyone we met went out of the way to wish us well and tell us they hoped we enjoyed our stay. It really was amazing.
I will be back for sure and next time I'll be bringing my kids (3 little boys). The game day atmosphere was awesome, the stadium is great and you could not ask for nicer people. Amazingly enough we didn't even encounter any jerks (drunk students must be on other side of campus). My 7 buddies are all converts for life.
Thanks everyone. You all are welcome at my spot in gainesville any time and if I ever see anyone in gainesville harassing a visiting LSU fan in a manner inconsistent with how I was treated in Baton Rouge, I'll be sure to set the offending UF fan straight.
Thanks again!! :geauxtigers:

Just understand this....LSU football games and the tailgating is like no other experience. I know the Swamp can be loud and the Gators are a great team...but that is all you have there in Gainesville that can compare to what you are going to experience. The people that will be on campus, there was close to 190,000 people for the game in 2007, the amount of tailgating, the food, the drinking, the team and Tiger Band coming down Victory Hill, pregame in Death Valley, and Death Valley at night is like nowhere else in the country. The noise factor in Tiger Stadium for this game will be something that you will never see anywhere else. The Student section, and the rest of the stadium cheer throughout the game with the Golden Band from Tigerland...LOUD! Hell, even pay attention when the Tiger Band plays pregame, the National Anthem and the Alma Mater. They are actually sung loud in Tiger Stadium.....whereas in most, even Florida....people just stand there with their hats off. Just have thick skin, when you hear "Tiger Bait" just smile, talk to the tailgaters and you will be fed and offered drinks. If you do this enough from early Saturday Morning until gametime, you will have eaten more food and be shitfaced by the time you get to the stadium. This is no joke...and I hope that when it's over, that you will go back to Gainesville and tell people what a wonderful time you had. Good Luck Great Game No Injuries GEAUX TIGERS "HOLY COW! TIGERS WIN! TIGERS WIN!"
Great post. I expect to have a great experience and will tell everyone in Gville about it. I think our fan bases are very similar though I will willing concede the partying/tailgating advantage to LSU. I see you guys show up on our campus and NOBODY travels like you all do. It's awesome. You've got my respect....
We're leaving NO around 8:30-9AM in our lovely 15 passenger van......(based solely on the recommendations received here!)

That's cool. I'm on alumni side of swamp now and it pisses me off when people don't get up and scream. Lot of old-timers....
Word on our boards from "insiders" today is he's playing.
I'd guess Brantley starts (he's earned the chance to play) and plays first series then 15 comes in after.

It's almost time!!!
Thanks again for all the responses. Leave tomorrow AM for NO. Have our van rented to get up to BR pretty early. Hopefully the weather cooperates. Sounds like good chance of rain.
Season has been a strange one. Tigers have underperformed my expectations, particularly on defense. UF has struggled a bit in it's passing game mostly due to injury/illness - we'll see how they do Sat. Alabamas been stronger than expected and I know how that makes you guys feel - I agree. Not a Saban fan since he left LSU.
Word on FLA forums is Tebow will play. We're also getting Marsh, a DT back after few weeks of injury. We lost an OT this week to non-contact ACL. Not a starter but in the rotation (Patchan). I'd guess John Brantley starts but Tebow comes in after first series. JB deserves some playing time. He's going to be a star.
My seats are up in the heavens (sect 631) but I don't care. Just stoked to be there. Really looking forward to the experience - I'll report back next week.
If any of you ever travel to the swamp for a game, look me up and I'll buy you a beer. Thanks again.

I don't think Tebow under center will be as effective as shotgun... actually I suspect Florida will implode this year like Auburn did last year
Not sure you're going to see too much of him under center but like everything Meyer does it will be designed to try and keep defenses off balance. Do think we'll see some though to help prep him for NFL. Amazes me how quick people are to dismiss Tebow's passing capabilities. Just look at his stats....

You'll be properly welcomed. Then flamed. Welcome to the board. Now go frick yourself.
I'd could respond with equal vile and vigor but kicking your arse in your home stadium will suffice. Go Gators!

I'd like to respond individually to many who have posted but I'm on the road and don't have the time. Needless to say, a 5 page thread responding to an "enemy" request for help says a lot about the fan base - especially the nature and tone of the responses. I'm even more stoked now for Oct. to roll around. I'm going to have to print this out when I get home and take notes on all the suggestions. Some great stuff in here.
YES - I will leave earlier. I just invited a buddy who happens to be a Mormon which works out well from a designated driver perspective (he's actually a cool guy too). We'll try to leave NO around 9-10AM. Since most of us have never been to NO, I'm not sure we'll physically be able to make it earlier than that.
You guys are awesome. Thanks.
Gators will roll this year again but certainly not like last year. Hopefully you get your QB situation settled and that alone will carry you a long way this year. And yes, I pull for LSU in bowl games as well (along with most other SEC teams other than GA or TN unless they're playing Ohio State, Notre Dame or FSU then I'm SEC all the way regardless).

If you are flying out of NO on Sunday just rent a car and find a hotel to sleeep in BR for Sat Night. That way you won;t have to drive back after the game.
That is exactly what I'm likely to do now based on all the input. Thks.
You all have been awesome with your advice. My takeaways:
1) Reconsider travel plans to arrive earlier (will try to do this based on number of comments);
2) Being thick-skinned, cool not a dick (not a problem; I treat visiting fans same way in gainesville)
3) Get in the stadium earlier than I would think (I've heard this before)
4) Have my friends wear some colors (who knows - one could turn out an LSU fan).
5) Eat & drink no issue if you're respectful
Appreciate it. Will also try to visit some of the recommended sites.

Better come earlier than noon unless you wanna park FAR away !
Feel like a loser but taking a bus. None in my group wanted to be held responsible for driving.
Thanks for the advice Alajones! Those A10's are cool as heck. You fly one?

the gators only loss of the year.
I expect a much closer game than last year no surprise but it's hard for me to predict any loss this year given everything we have coming back. That said, if something strange happens (usually does) and it's our only loss of the year, I'll take it as we'd probably still have a good shot at the NC in that case as we'd have to beat you, Ole Miss or AL in the SECCG to make that one loss thing be true.

after a few urine bombs, you might change your mind... maybe a few batteries here and there.
could be. I'm guessing I'll be high enough up in the corner of the stadium that only God could throw a piss bomb down on me.

Will let them know they're at risk of losing out on the legendary food....

Not sure 8AM will work but you're right, I'd prefer more like 10-11AM but we're hoping bus with bigger group. Was lazy in arranging it. Will keep eyes open for earlier alternative.

Not worried about the natural bantering of crap back and forth. It's a big part of the experience. That said, I'm sure none of my 7 buddies will be wearing orange & blue - big wimps.
Thanks and will do. Like the avatar! (or whatever that ND thing is called)
