Hopefully a freezer/fridge is in the offing so the animals will already be dead when you walk in the door.

Never was a fan of the place, but I have purchased both seafood & sandwich platters from them for special occasions and they were delicious.

It won't reopen as a restaurant or seafood store.

It always smelled like a sewer to me.

I also worry that it might not open back up. That place is so unpredictable. We live right by there and would love a reliable local joint to have a beer and good poboy in. And, to its credit, sometimes it has a slamming shrimp poboy, sometimes it tastes like cardboard. Sometimes the caesar salad is out of this world and other times the lettuce is wet like it's been sitting in a kiddie pool. It's crazy what a lack of good local places there are in Siegen/Perkins area. Please open back up City Cafe and keep your sh't tight! The neighborhood needs you.

I just don't see it happening...he's has better things going on in other parts of town to run a $7.00 poboy/fried seafood joint. I understand that he owns the building, so he might have a monthly note, but it's better used to work his catering out of...I just don't see it happening. Too much work, for too little return. Maybe during crawfish season, but not as a regular restaurant.

It is a good location for a restaurant. There are a lot of roof tops in that area, and great day time business traffic.

i agree. i dont know how you all could wait for your food in that place. i worked across the street from that place for a few months and i would rather eat at that dingy mini mart next to it becuase of the foul smell.

That dingy mini mart is called Village Grocery & Deli, a place I've highly recommended on this board several times...Delicious fried chicken.

Speaking of places to eat in that area, the Jambalaya Shoppe has really been sorry as of late. I wonder if they're under different ownership or management.

I've noticed that, too. There are times when I "have to have" jambalaya, but that place has dropped off on quality.
