ETA Sean Payton's supportive message on CNNSI

quote:

I think former Saints linebacker Rickey Jackson and ex-Seattle defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy should have a spot reserved for them in Canton. This is coming from an offensive coach who believes it is time to fill the Pro Football Hall of Fame with more of the NFL's defensive elite.

10th all time in sacks.

6 time Pro Bowler.

5 time All-Pro.

9 seasons with at least 9 sacks.

Thoughts?

Compare his numbers to Andre Tippett's numbers and it's a bloody disgrace that he's not in the HOF.

Tippett: LINK

Rickey: LINK

It really is a shame.

The clock is running, and he doesn't have too much longer before he is in on the old guys committee.

Glad to see you guys agree. I thought maybe I was being a homer, but I was arguing with some out of staters who said he wasn't HOF material.

yup, since he was the baddest arse one of the widely accepted best LB group of all time. If he would have played for Dallas or SF he would already be in IMO. Will he? I'd give him 25% chance at best.

Hell YES! Ricky Jackson was my favorite Saint on the defensive side of the ball when I was a kid. They should also send his helmet that had like 20 bars on it to the NFL Hall of fame as well. I remember being in pee wee football asking for a helmet with a facemask like Ricky Jackson's .

Yes, he SHOULD be in the Hall of Fame.

But he won't. The rest of the country's hardly heard of him, and it's a SHAME.

I don't like the fact that he's skipped a weighty amount of child support, but in my opinion, that doesn't disqualify him from the Hall of Fame.

For God's sake, O.J. is still in the Hall of Fame.
