Agreed. In reality MF was a big reason we lost to Kent and was the reason we barely won a bunch of games due to his poor play in the 1st 3 quarters.

and arky (first 3 series were horrible)

now our D was mediore and downright bad late, but we could have outscored everyone with a better QB + crowton

I dont agree with you a whole sfp, but this is true.. JR for the most part has been a solid rep of LSU, RD on the other hand is a convicted thief.
JR and RD arent even in the same category.

I think it has a lot to do with the program's expectation levels at the times they were playing. When Ro played, even making the SECCG was a big thing, by the time JR got the reins a trip to Atlanta was supposed to be a given, just a stop along the way to the NC game.

i think talent plays a part

LSU fans prefer a workmanlike approach and seem to have a distaste for the truly talented (unless they meet unreal expectations)

I'd say more hype than talent, or some combo of the 2. If you're the hyped up, big armed QB recruit (or big calved tailback ) , you gotta light the world on fire damn near every time out so you won't be labeled a bust or just a physical specimen.

I think it's a fair question.

My thoughts on it include firstly, do we win the title? If JR continued to show the ability to run with the ball as he did from the Tenn. game on, yes we win the title, possibly undefeated.

Secondly, "dislike" would be a strong term for the majority, but I expect there would be less of that and more adoration, generally speaking.

Lastly, JR just doesn't have commercial appeal. I don't think the LSU part of fandom has anything to with it. It's across the board.

Eric Dickerson comes to mind. Someone who wouldn't get caught dead watching a football game, even if he was playing in it. Although super talented, just not very interested.
