Dont mean to hate...but he is near the bottom of the staff and it seems as if he always gets innings over other quality guys...I would much rather see Nolan Cain out there believe it or not. See what happens when you can barely throw over 80 mph...thats what happens!! 4-3 UVA

Paul should be in there to get out of innings. But he shouldnt be out there to start innings.
VERY EFFECTIVE when he comes in to get out of a jam.

Nitpicking is very unbecoming especially on something so insignificant...Ive travelled with the team so I was just making an observation...apparently you guys are in the dugout right now helping Paul with the lineup card...Phucking Phags!!

Did anyone else notice PB spitting on the ball. I saw at least two times on closeups that I backed up to look at it in frame by frame? It didn't help, UVA got a hit on each one.

He does this as well as anyone we have. Maybe not so well sometimes when he starts the next inning but how many times has he saved up from big innings?
But I'm a huge Bertuccini fan. Great kid who loves the pressure situations, understands his role and loves it.
Every great team needs the stars and the role players.
And the bottom line is we WON!

You live in Boston and manage to travel with the team? Interesting.

Now can you give Paul Bertuccini a break?

This could also apply to you since you started with the comment "Sorry but Paul Bertucini = Not so much!!". And if you've traveled with the team one would think you'd at least know who to spell the player's name whose talent and role you are debating.

that doesn't change the fact that you are a moron....just making an observation though...

He got us out of a huge jam, but they figured him out pretty quick.

I think his problem last night was he was throwing too many curve balls. They knew what was coming and they were waiting for it. They need to mix it up more. I agree. He did fine when he replaced Ranuado to get out the inning. The problem was when he started the next inning. I wish his fastball was more in the 84-85 range instead of 81-82. They brought up a good point last night that the difference between his fastball and curveball are not that significant.

I wouldn't have started this thread, but you can't consistently get good hitters out throwing 80/81. They are going to sit curve and eventually figure it out. He should come in to get a righty or 2 out, but I'm not sure I'd ever let him pitch to more than that in a close game. But there is absolutely a role for him. Maybe like a right-handed Chad Jones role.
