Call me what you will but one of the things that I gather from this list is that the PAC-10 is BY FAR the most competitive conference with 5 teams winning titles and with 3 of those winning more than one. The SEC has been a one team show with LSU dominating...Georgia's lone title notwithstanding. I'm surprised to see that Miami is the only ACC school to have won a title and most, if not all, were before they joined the ACC. But if you are looking at individual teams then there is no doubt who the best team has been over the past 30 years.

wake forest is the only ACC team to ever win a baseball national championship(as a member of the ACC that is)...and it was a long time ago..50s or 60s i think.

I thought that might be the case. I guess I've given the ACC too much credit over the years.

Its very difficult to win a title for baseball in college. Take them any way you can!

this thread sounds very Alabama of us, especially since we're getting closer to a decade without a title

We could have three peated in 98, but blew the winners brackets games against USC twice.
Of course, they went on to win it all. I believe it was a home run fest in the first game between LSU and USC.

Bama's still partying like it's 1992.

Then only go back 20 years: LINK
It's even more impressive that way.
We've still been making the CWS occaisionally. We're not like Bama who fell off the map in football.

The Pac 10 has won 26 of the 62 titles - 42%. Then there are another 6 titles won by non-Pac 10 California schools.

this is impressive but, looking at the talent coming thru in the ACC and conf USA, besides the Big 12 and SEC, this is bound to go down. Not because those teams out West won't be as good - college baseball is getting darn good in the South.

The south is catching up with California, but per capita, SoCal is unbelievable in producing talent still. Just look at minor league / pro rosters. Plus the UC-Irvine's and Cal St. Ful's of the world. Sorry, but UT-Arlington or LSU-Shreveport isn't going to any CWS's anytime soon.
They have very developed youth leagues in Cal that have been around forever and play year round. This was the model for the rest of the country. One of the offshoots was USC owning college baseball for so long.

I was there...they won the championship game 21-14 in what could better be described as a batting practice where they kept score. Good thing the juiced the bats down.

I believe that if Arizona State had scored in the 9th they would have went for 2 to avoid extra innings.

If you really wanna see impressive go back 40 or so years.
But seriously, what LSU has done in the past 15 years is amazing.
Kudos to the PAC-10 as the stellar conference too.
