Got takeout last night-muff for my oldest, 15# of crawfish for the rest of us. (hey, had been working in the yard all day and didn't feel like cooking). Crawfish solid as usual, nice size, clean, very tasty. Muff was ok, needs the bread toasted IMO. That they fry/grill score the meat, adds a nice flavor.
Anyway, waiting for my order to come up front, there are all these grocery bags of go orders lined up behind the register on the windowsill. Gal working up front sits down, talking to another girl, and reaches in one of the bags twice to drag french fries out and eats them???
By the way, could have walked right in at 8:00 PM and had a table. George's Southside only had a handful of cars in the lot. For a Saturday night....nobody, especially for these places. Wonder if the economic downturn is catching hold?
BTW, sure miss the old Sammys, especially the talent waiting tables. There has been a dearth of good looking help for the past couple of years-about the time they opened the new side.

If she was cute, then it is OK. If not, this this is unacceptable?

Girls got fat from eating all the fries from the take-out orders.

you talking about the place in Bucktown?
I used to love that place but my aunt said its gone downhill since the new owners took over after katrina.

This alone should be enough to get this guy banned.

Sammy's is always crowded when I drive by, with people waiting outside for tables. George's Southside--not so much.
I like to order stuff to go from them, but WTF on the french fry thieving bar chick? Might want to send a note to the manager--definitely not something to do in front of customers.

definitely not something to do at all. I would hope those bitches arent eating my fries period. When you saw her doing that, you should have been like "Did you just eat a fry out of that bag? WTF?". It would make her feel awkward and not do it again.

Yeah, I know. But to do something like that in front of customers is just extra wrong.

Or "I hope you're enjoying my fries. Would you like some ketchup with them?"

That does sound a bit better. Or you could just tell the manager. I know it's a tattletale move, but seriously, do I really need someone's grubby hands in my food? That just shatters every idealistic illusion in my mind that the kitchen workers and the kitchen itself are some semblance of clean.

no possibility that the fries were hers? i mean if i was working the in front of customers, and i had gotten the cooks to make me some fries, i would have probably put them in a bag or something rather than just leaving them in the open

I don't think they were hers-they were in a bag with a ticket on it, waiting for someone to pick it up. And no, like the rest of the help, she was not really cute-might have been pounding fries out of to-go orders for awhile. Didn't want to narc on her since she ended up picking up our order. Didn't need her rubbing her muff on mine in the back.
True about the baseball game and LSU finishing up, but it was still a shockingly small crowd for a Saturday. Almost drove by Sunday morning to see if the usual mob was out for brunch. IMO, not only has the server talent dropped, but the food is less consistent since they expanded. Besides, the new side is less like a dive, and I love a good dive.

Makes me wonder if Sammy is not handling hiring anymore. I always gave him credit for being the perv behind all the great looking girls working there.

I live right behind Sammy's and never see it not crowed even during the week. Not sure what happened on Saturday night but that place usually has people waiting outside starting around 6:00 until whenever.

Sammy hasn't been doing the hiring for about a decade....at least. It was easier to staff the place when it was "old" Sammy's, just the bar side...they only needed to have about 8-10 servers on a busy night. Now, I think they have over fifty servers working there. It's a lot harder to keep the talent level that high, spread out over that many employees. It's been a lament of ours for a while now, but I still love going there.
