Just an update to what was discussed here not too long ago.

I am a manager at Rave Motion Pictures and wanted to spread the word that we will be enforcing a new minor policy starting May 8th at both the Mall of Louisiana 15 and Baton Rouge 16 locations. No person under the age of 17 will be allowed enter our building after 8pm unless supervised by someone 25 years age or older. No children under the age of 6 will be allowed into a rated 'R' feature after 6pm (no exceptions).

This policy is being enacted to re-affirm our guests that we are a family movie theater.

I just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts or concerns as I am going to have more details tomorrow.

Is this a typo? Do people really take 6yo to R rated films?

I fricking hate people.

ETA: IME on the weekends, the kids get there pretty early and then just loiter until the theater closes. I'm not sure how much affect what you're doing will have (unless you actively try to boot the loiterers), but I commend it.

Sounds good. Maybe this will help keep a lot of kids from loitering outside all the time... Makes my girl nervous when we are going through/leaving, and I'm sure many more

I know a guy who is/was a manager at one of the locations. I went to church with him at an Agape Baptist. He had a brother whose name started with a "c" and a cousin named Ashlyn. He was also born around 83-85. Are you him?

Also, I love these rules!!!!!!!

Why the arbitrary age of 25?

And this is a bad business decision by The Rave unless there are no other movie theaters within 30 miles.

Nah, I'm not.

We will be using our security detail to enforce minors off of the property after 8pm. Obviously until the word spreads we will be laid back at first regarding kids loitering. However, as time moves on, we will have our officers issue tickets to parents who drop off their kids and leave them for crazy long periods.

We are a movie theater, not a babysitting service.

I'm not sure why they went 25 instead of 21, I'll update tomorrow on that one.

Citiplace already has a rule similar to this one and I'm fairly certain Perkin's Rowe has one or is getting one for the entire complex.

Both of the large AMC theaters in New Orleans have a rule like this and I am hearing Lafayette theaters do as well.

Why did you take down the big sign out front showing the movies and their times?

Good business decision. The punks that hang outside the theater are not bringing in business. Unless The Rave starts charging a fee for standing outside.

This wouldn't have affected me two years ago because there is another movie theater equidistant from my house that has higher ticket prices than the Rave and therefore wouldn't DARE enact a similar ordinance.

Still though, this is pretty shitty for the teenagers who actually go in and watch the movie. Why not just have someone posted up outside making sure people don't loiter?

The sign was messed up some during Katrina and it was a pain to continuously fix. Also, we had a problem (and still do sometimes) with people who like to drive up to the front of the theater (in front of a fire lane) and stay there for long periods of time or even park to get tickets.

it goes beyond that, and they'd adapt and just start sneaking into movies out the arse to frick around

now what rave needs to do is to get more strict on people talking during movies

By the way, why is everyone afraid of teenagers standing outside of a movie theater?
