There is no rational connection between those two events.

There is no way the HR's would have happened if it wasn't for the blown call on that bush league jr. high shite.

I always wondered what the home plate umpire was saying to try and calm down Maneri. How do you justify a member of your crew making that call when he clearly didn't have a good look at the play. (And thus reward a stupid trick play with the benefit of the doubt?)

That umpiring crew still pisses me off. One of the worst calls/decision to make a call I have ever seen in any sport.

I know the umps are human and prone to mistakes but make a mistake on a plays THAT YOU SAW not one that you DIDN'T SEE...

if he would have simply owned up and ask for assistance from the other umpires on the field then at least you can say he tried to get the call right, by doing what he did, IMO, states he didn't care about getting the call right, he just wanted to make a call instead of being a man and owning up to his mistake that he was not paying attention on what was going on, on the field of play...

simple: you can't make a call on something you didn't see.

umpire #1: did you see it? I didn't
umpire #2: did you see it? I didn't
umpire #3: did you see it? I didn't

No. They played like shite until the 8th inning the next day and somehow won 9-7.

They were jacked up and won game 3 21-7 because it was the last game ever at the box.

If they had whipped that umpire's arse in the parking lot you'd have a valid case.

Did that need to be stated? It was obviously known.
