We nearing the end of the baseball season and right now we have only 2 pitchers (maybe Ott a little) that we can count on, Renaudo and Coleman. By count on, I mean you know you going to get a good outing each time from those two guys. However, with the other 12 pitchers it's a crap shoot. You never know what you're going to get....... a good performance or a bad one.

Shouldn't one of the best college baseball programs in America at this stage of the season have more than 2 out of 14 pitchers they can put some confidence in?

Then I'm more puzzled when I look at these mid-week games and I see pitchers from lesser in-state schools just stymie us. And I realize they're using their best pitchers. But so what. If they can shut down one of the best teams in the SEC and in America, maybe they should be pitching for us.

Now I realize that down the road some of these pitchers may turn into studs. But as of right now it's not good. Maybe we should reevaluate our criteria for recruiting pitchers or have a long talk with the pitching coach.

Really? Only other school I pay attention to is ULM and when they play Arkansas and MS St they didn't use their weekend rotation guys. One guy earned a spot in the rotation after the MS St. game but he wasn't a regular.

The past two classes 07 and 08 were position player heavy classes that we signed. Granted we did take alot of pitchers in 07, but they consisted of quite a few JUCO's and HS projects. The 09 and 10 classes are going to be key in the future success of the program and if we can keep guys like Von Rosenberg, Colvin, and Garrett we will be set.

I have asked this question on here time and time again and I keep posters say that I need to enjoy the season because we are ranked in the top 10 be happy and enjoy. I say that is bull we need pitching or we are not going very far in the postseason. Offense fills the stands pitching wins championships! enough said!

Well put casey. With the current pitching staff we don't win the SEC west, or the SEC tournament. Gettting get a regional isn't a guarantee and a super regional is very doubtful. Omaha is out of the question.
If I'm wrong (I'm not) I'll come back and apologise.

Answer this question for me. Last year, how many pitchers did we have that we could count on?

I think we have a good chance at keeping all three. Garrett had an elbow injury earlier this year and missed about 6 weeks, in fact, he may still be out.
From Gwinnett paper a few weeks ago.

If Zachary and Von Rosenburg win the title again this year I think the odds of him coming to LSU go way down.

those two things have nothing to do with each other. his draft stock wont improve just because he won one more high school game.

Talking points in contract negotiations. Also puts him on a larger stage. If several scouts show up to watch him play against 1A Northshore Christian, I imagine that many more would be interested in seeing him pitch against a top 4A team.

Yes, but to say because they win the 4A state title he will be gone is not true at all. In my opinion Von Rosenberg would be better suited going to college. He's a RHP with an 88-89mph fastball and like Ranaudo with a bit tuning up and that great height he has 6'5 he could become a friday night guy.

You must be too young to remember all our championships. Does "gorilla ball" sound familiar? This is not football. We've won 5 baseball championships with the bat.

righties that don't consistently throw in the 90s don't go in the first round.

Does anyone know the family or kid well enough to know what he will do? Obviously he is a great pitcher and will be drafted high but were is his cutoff as far as draft position.
