Heading to S.F. for work in about a month and a half. I'll be there between 4-5 days. Looking for at least one fine dining place, as well as a sushi joint and a few general places.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Slanted Door is owned by a n Asian couple that is one of the top 25 grossing restaurants in the country because of quality not location or gimmicks.

Last time I was there we went to Ozumo for sushi and it was outstanding.

Also, if you haven't booked a hotel yet, I HIGHLY recommend the St. Regis.

As of now, I don't have any plans to head to Yountville, or any part of wine country for that matter. So unless something changes, I'm staying in San Francisco proper.

I've had after-dinner drinks at the King Cole Bar in the St. Regis New York before. To this day, it's the most expensive non-Vegas/bottle service tab I've ever had. But I have to admit, as touristy at the bar was, it was still a great place for a digestif.

I had sushi at this place on Mason St at Post Akikos Sushi Bar.. Old lady was the sushi chef.. Tiny place good prices and the sushi was the best I had while I was there. Not many special rolls but the fish was amazingly fresh. Highly recommend hitting a dim sum joint while there.. ANd def go to chinatown

I had a great meal at Gary Danko a few years ago. I'd recommend it.

Went to some white tablecloth italian restaurant, I am fairly certain it was called Fior de Italia. Really one of the best meals I've ever had.

Ok the only time I went to San Fran I was was 11 but I remember going to an old school diner like 2 blocks off of lombard st. that had great burgers for 2 dollars and a pinball machine that gave you 8 balls for 25 cents. I can't remember the name cuz it was 10 years ago, but if its still open its definately worth it

The diner is still there, and it is exactly what you remember, a diner.
