Didn't enjoy falling to 3rd string at CB even after Brooks moved to safety.

I'm assuming he has to sit out a year?

Dad says he wants to come home. Did this kid talk to the Auburn coaches before jumping ship?

he saw PT while he was being recruited then we recruited some more, instead of playing for the name on the front he wants to play for the one on the back

B/c Chris Hawkins is above average, and Pat Peterson is possibly a first round player.

If he wants a chance at the next level, he needs to see the field in college. Barring injury, that may not happen at LSU. Good luck to him. Cl;assy move by Les Miles in not restricting where he can go. He has been a good Tiger and the coaches seem to understand his desire for PT.

Common sense tells me Phelon Jones was granted a release by Miles because he is transfering.

Fixed it

Actually, instead of not playing at all, he wants to play. That quote came from Travis Daniels, who said it after he gave up a redshirt to play and ended up playing in the SECCG and Sugar Bowl his freshman year, five games as a sophomore and starting every game of his junior and senior seasons.

Meanwhile, Jones is a redshirt sophomore with limited time in two games over two years of eligibility.

To even try to compare the two is downright illogical.

Maybe because he is not good enough to start at LSU?

Sounds illogical to me too.

Exactly, there's really no reason to give Phelon a hard time. He's a D-1 caliber player, just not at LSU, and he wants to play.

I'm sure you didn't mean what I interpreted, and I agree with your overall point, but how does being at LSU make him not a D-1 caliber player? (FWIW, I'm assuming you mean -- and everyone else read this as -- that Jones was D-1 caliber but didn't have much of a chance at starting. I'm probably just being extremely semantic, so please, slap me if that's the case. >_>)

I think the reason is pretty much as reported. He wanted to go home, and he was probably gonna get burried in the depth chart here. Im sure he would have eventually contributed here as an extra DB and special teams but, he was gonna have a hard time ever being a full time starter here.

Here is why he transfered:

Peterson, Hawkins, Eugene, Brandon Taylor, Morris Claiborne, Ryan St. Julien, Ron Brooks
