Have not been to H burg in a long time, but there used to be a steak place on 49 just north of campus that was great, and a restaurant on the corner of 49 and hardy, I think the name was chesterfields that was good as well. for a more laid back ask somebody from around there where Letha's Bar b que is, we used to have to drive about 30 minutes to Colmbia to eat there but I understand she opened up a restaurant on hwy 98 just west of town, her sauce was incredible

Leatha's is the best place to go!!! Great BBQ. There is a steak house near Southern Miss, that had pretty good steaks at one time, Constanago ? or something like that.

Crescent City is really good. Make sure you check out the nightly specials and the Bar has a good beer selection. When going out to dinner this is where my friends usually go and we sit outside. By far the best BBQ is Leathas. Made the food network top BBQ places in the country. Took the BF one weekend he was down from Baton Rouge and he keeps wanting to go back. Bonnie and Carolyn will fix you up if you go there. Wintzell's is pretty good and on the main road, then there are several really good places down town. Crescent City is the closest to the campus Leathas is best overall.

Got a little spoiled having Leatha's walking distance from my house when it was in Foxworth. I was the girl that went in the back door and walked out with my food while people stood in line forever.

My friend from High School is one of the owners. Also if you want a cool place to go grab a beer I am suggesting Keg and Barrel. Any beer you want real laid back. its on Hardy across from the Zoo in a old house

It is very authentic, no frills BBQ and sides. The sauces are a little too sweet for my personal tastes, but that is the way it is served in that region. I would not hesitate to recommend it. There is another BBQ place we have visited, The Front Porch on the I-55 service road. At lunch it was AYCE for $10, not bad, Leatha's is better.

Had lunch at Chesterfields last year, pretty good, but that it based on one lunch.

I did summer research at Southern Miss last year and found Leatha's (as you've heard from everyone else) to be some great BBQ. Not sure what their hours are, but hit em up if you can. Crescent City was ok at best. Don't know if I'm biased or what, but I didn't find it to be something to rave about.

Hattiesburg is pretty slim in the restaurant choices. Crescent is what i would go with as well. Good atmosphere and beer choices.

If you do Leatha's (should be open on Friday) get the half and half plate. Get ribs beef and pork, potatoes and coleslaw. Ask Bonnie or Carolyn (mrs Leatha's daughters) for extra sauce. It only makes it better. Don't be alarmed by the dish cloth for a towel you will need this. Steak and Chicken there is also good but the ribs are fine. Think they sell the sauce, but I have the recipe. Never as good as theirs though. Has to be a secret ingredient.

Take 2 seconds to google Zaxby's before you go on a ranter criticism. It is a chicken finger place like Raising Cane's.

Any place run by Robert St. John will be great. Google him for his three restaurants and directions.

Actually you should take some time and do some research. They offer a lot more than Canes including Chicken Wings. Thats one of the things I love about Zaxbys. Chill out, this is the food and drink board.
