For what it's worth:
Michael Jordan, UNC
Fresh. (UNC) 81-82 -- 13.4 ppg, 53.4 FG% (ACC Freshman of the Year)
Soph. (UNC) 82-83 -- 20.0 ppg, 53.5 FG%
Junior (UNC) 83-84 -- 19.6 ppg, 55.1 FG% (NCAA Player of the Year)
Senior: went pro
Marcus Thornton, LSU
Fresh. -- ???
Soph. (JUCO) 06-07 -- 27.0 ppg, ??? FG% (first-team All-American JUCO)
Junior (LSU) 07-08 -- 19.6 ppg, 43.6 FG%
Senior (LSU) 08-09 -- 21.0 ppg, 47.3 FG% (SEC Player of the Year)
The Rivals.com Basketball Power Rankings currently rank Thornton as the #1 shooting guard in the NCAA
Rivals Basketball Power Rankings
EDIT: To the dim-witted, the stats show Jordan is much better. Look at the FG%. It's obviously just a comparision to show how Thornton stacks up against the greatest. To make it even more obvious, I spelled out "For what it's worth" across the top.

The worst fail in the history of TD.com. Jordan was held back by the worst coach in history. Carolina should have won atleast two NC's during Jordan's three years. Greatest player ever versus an the SEC POY? Fail, fail and more fail.
