Two Cheap Moves Saints Could Have Made

Drayton Florence signed with Buffalo 2yr/7mil
Cedric Benson signed with Nati 2yr/7mil
Would Have helped us in two positions for very reasonable prices and I know the entir contract wasn't guaranteed.

I'll sip some kool aid now n then but I can see the no on these-
Florence had a terrible '08. GW was his DC so he has first hand experience whether to even go after him at all. I'd assume no.
Benson 2yr/$7mil isn't some great discount deal. I think they are looking for someone much cheaper and a role player. Benson was offered more by Texas but went Cincy cuz of being able to start. That wouldn't have happened here either. The jury is still out on him anyway. he piled up a load of garbage stats last year.

Benson maybe. But they were going after Bartell and now Greer, much better players. If they sign Florence, it may hinder their ability to get those guys. Not only that, but if they signed both, Florence could very well be cut in favor of David or Young (he may not even make the team without Greer). Even if only $1m was a signing bonus, it's still $1m wasted.

Why does everyone just assume that we could magically get these guys???
Some guys just don't have interest in EVERY team in the NFL.
