Game Notes

quote:

UCF pitchers struck out a season-high 14 against the Tigers Sunday.

They fail to mention that the 14K's is 34% of our at bats (14/41), while their 13 K's is 42% (13/31) of their at bats.

When you lose 16-0, there's something that needs spinning.

but it's 58% of our outs

Thats means there needs to be a little more contact and a lot less whiffs.

True, but percentage-wise, UCF had us beat. Then there is the 16-0 thing.

Whoa...didn't realize this. Know the young fellas got some PT, but definitely something to work on.

all i gotta say is that ump's strike zone after the tigers went up 14-0 pretty much doubled in size. he wanted to get home before 10 or 11 pm.

An out is an out. Strikeouts for a hitter are overrated. I'll take 14 strikeouts if it means 16 runs.

That's a load of crap. You obviously know nothing about how to play baseball. Strikeouts are unproductive outs, they don't advance runners or force the defense to make a play. If there is one out and a runner on third, a ground out to the infield or a pop fly to the outfield could score that run as opposed to him having no chance to score on a strikeout.

but sometimes a grounder can force a double play and end the inning or even a triple play sometimes, but a strikeout can only produce one out(well, sometimes 2 if you get the ole strike em out, throw em out deal)...hell sometimes strikeouts get no outs if your catcher sucks.
