As several of us said, the OL wasn't the only LOS unit issue

Let's examine the DL shall we which lMO was better than the OL but not by much. Guillory - not drafted Pyburn - not drafted Butler - not drafted Payton - not drafted Gooden - not drafted. Remember when supposedly Gooden couldn't be blocked in practice. Gooden = Travonte Valentine 2.0

Not all of these guys were starters but they played a HELL of a lot of snaps and not one team considered them draftable. 'nuff said

Gooden was a solid player for us still last year if you were watching the games

Not all good college players are NFL level players

Don’t necessarily disagree about the rest

We definitely didn't have what we needed upfront last year to be elite. Baker had to do all types of stuff, bring 5, stunts up front which sometimes led to giving up big runs which Kelly would then bitch at him for but he was working with what he had.

Im surprised somebody didn't take a flyer on Gooden. He flashed, amd LSU's defense wasn't bad. Usually at a place like LSU, those guys get drafted. There obviously was a lot more to that team than met the eye. Feels like the poorest draft performance in 25 years.

Gooden was the best player on the defensive line last year. He is nothing at all like Travonte Valentine.

That’s not saying much with that offensive line

Gooden was solid, as I remember. Did a lot of swimming, soaked up the blocks.

Pyburn- if he was a bit quicker, he probably gets 10 sacks
Seems like he was a step away 4-5 times a game, but never finished.

That isn't saying much. I do disagree some anyway. Reliford WOULD have been the best player on the DL but he can't stay on the field. 2 years at LSU and injured the vast majority of the time.

Kelly not only failed cooking school, he had no idea what groceries to buy.

Like it or not you win on the OL and DL and we just didn't have the horses.

Our de’s got almost no sacks or pressures last year- just awful. And the ol was young, the de’s were not.

Reliford has done nothing when he was healthy to say he would have been the best lineman. Goodman is too small for the NFL.

That isn't saying much. And if Reliford had been healthy, he would have been the best DL. Unfortunately, he has been at LSU for 2 years and has been injured the vast majority of the time.

I think you meant Gooden but we'll call that a typo. But you are flat out wrong on Reliford. Don't believe my opinion? How about Lane Kiffin? He specifically said during an after practice media session what a great loss that was when he got hurt in spring practice this year. I'll take my opinion and Lane Kiffin's over yours with all due respect.

You are what you practice against.

The DL practiced daily against one of the worst units I’ve seen in over 40 yrs. of watching LSU FB.

We all need to keep track of all the OL transfers who went to big schools. How will Echols do at A&M? How will Curne do at Ole Miss? How about Adams at A&M? How about Mubenga at Nebraska? How about Chester at Miss State? This will tell us a lot about how much of it was lack of talent and how much of it was hideous OL coaching.
