Excitement didn't exactly work out for us at Bethpage. It was quite the opposite. I said it last year, and I still think it. Stop trying to copy all the stuff that the Euros do to generate emotion for the event. Just lean into being professionals and go to Adare to get a job done.

I am completely fine with this pick. I don't know if there is an option that would be exciting and a good pick.

Luke Donald doesn't exactly fire anybody up either, but has been quite effective.

If Furyk gets similar results, he'll be a RC legend.

Who can we pick that would be exciting?

Tiger I guess but why would he want to do that?

Dude, Steve stricker sucked dick in Ryder cups, wore pants with 15 pleats, is the most boring human ever, and has the record for biggest arse kickong win as a captain in RC history

Outside of Tiger, who is an exciting selection? Only ones I would be actually excited for would be David Toms or Hal Sutton and that's simply because of the Bossier/Shreveport connection.

Why is he not the 2027 captain?

Furyk has already been a captain though and they got their arse kicked that year. I don't care if the pick is exciting, but not sure why you use a retread.

He's a smart guy though so maybe it's different this go around.

I watched Full Swing this week and got all pissed off again about Bethpage.

Talk for the entire show about how much it means to them and then lay an egg over the first two days.

Setup was stupid, players didn't show up. We get our arse kicked at Adare Manor...mark it down.

It was going to be Tiger but his pill problem got in the way.

Furyk...great.

I would have run it back with KB.

It just doesn’t matter

You calling Jim Furyk a GOAT? He’s part of the core that allowed Europe to take control and start dominating the Ryder Cup. 9 Ryder Cups played, 2 wins. Career .333 win percentage in individual matches.

If you want someone that can win a Las Vegas Open or Canadian Open, Furyk is your man. If you want a stone cold killer that can stare down the Euros, find someone else.

Give me a David Duval. If he doesn’t get vertigo I’m convinced he would have been a 3 time or more major champion.

The Captain is the last person that needs to be a stone cold killer. They just need to put the players in position to be stone cold killers.

Hell, going back to Stricker, he even had a commercial making fun of how non-hardcore he is.

This being important to you when discussing a captain should be truly embarrassing for you.

You're still doing it. I am not sure if you're just confused or truly this dumb.

Why are you losing your mind about this? Everybody is just like well okay, but the excitement around the Captain is likely a non factor and for some reason, you're bringing up his playing record. It doesn't matter.

The facts are Team USA is a dumpster fire and this is a stop gap. The ghosts of Walter Hagen and Ben Hogan could come back and co-captain this thing, and the USA is still probably getting housed.

I tend to agree with this and I don't mind Furyk, but I certainly would have went with someone else. Got blown out his captaincy year and was no doubt a big advisor to Keegan last year.. Would have rather some fresh blood like Snedeker (I think he won a Presidents Cup right?), previous winner in Stricker, Freddy Couples or David Toms.

You basically just described Luke Donald. The captains aren't putting fear in anyone or hitting any shots themselves. This is a silly take

Watching Full Swing this season I was thinking the same thing. All the fist pumping and screaming over making an 8’ putt when that is the complete opposite of how most of the guys play all season.
