I think some of yall are giving way too much credit or blame to the captains. The players determine which team wins.

The Captains make the picks, the home team captain sets up the course, they make the parings for the matches. They basically set everything in motion. They play a vital role. If it want that important Europe wouldn’t be running Luke Donald back for a third time.
