My favorite spot for crawfish closed two weeks ago and I’ve spent that time sampling other places around Houston/Galveston with no luck.
I like it kinda trashy I guess. Sunny D+ garlic + all the spices and liquid at the bottom. So I’ve purchased the setup to do myself.
Anyone have a good “ghetto” style recipe for crawfish that they are willing to share step by step with a newbie? I follow Chef Jay Voo on Insta and seems like what I’m looking for but he doesn’t detail how to purge, soak, times, etc.

Be sure to post the video here so we can smell it through our phones.

Boil the crawfish using 2 gallons of water, 9 two-liters of Fanta orange for 30 minutes. Transfer to ice chest and dust with Tang orange flavored drink mix … probably something you’d enjoy

Go look up the Crawfish App video on YouTube. Link is also in a fairly recent thread. It’s about 45 seconds long and tells you everything you need to know. You can always add citrus, extra liquid boil, etc. and there’s some nuance to cooking times but it’s a great quick, basic tutorial.

That keeps the spice aisle fresh at his local grocery store.
Probably dumps $100 worth of spices down the drain when he dumps his pot.
