The Justice Department has removed the career Miami federal prosecutor leading the investigation into John Brennan, after she resisted pressure to quickly bring charges against the former CIA director and prominent critic of President Donald Trump, according to people briefed on the matter.
Maria Medetis Long on Friday notified attorneys representing people involved in the case that she was no longer handling the investigation, the people familiar with the matter said. She has led the politically sensitive probe for months amid demands from Trump to prosecute Brennan and other critics.

Good. She should be removed.

If the case was weak and they're pushing a sped up timeline on a weak case, they should probably listen to her.

This is going to be one of those situations where it’s hard to tell if she was a swamp rat trying to protect her own and cover up corruption or just a reasonable career bureaucrat who didn’t want to advance a weak, politically motivated case.

Oh, well if people say so, then by all means...

Bring the case to trial now or quit the job. That should have been her choices.
I don't care whether you think the Govt can win the case.

NYT says that she has withdrawn herself.
Not that it matters much. CNN seems to have embellished a little.

A senior federal prosecutor in Miami has withdrawn from an investigation into John O. Brennan, the former C.I.A. director, over concerns about the legal viability of a politically charged case Trump administration officials have tried to fast-track, people familiar with the matter said.

The exact circumstances of Ms. Medetis Long’s departure from the case were unclear, though she notified lawyers for various people who had received subpoenas or interview requests that she was no longer involved in the inquiry, several of the people said.

Anyone would demand justice. Cut the crap.

You two nerds (my crack legal dream team) are all about the goose but can't stand it when it's time to get down and gander.

Brother, Jim Comey is still gandering all over this planet as a free man.
I’m starting to see signs this one is heading down that path too.

CNN got her name correct but puts the swamp spin on it.
Here is another take...I dont think they can pull a Comey skate in Fla?

Good. Get her the hell out of there and put someone in with the balls to do what needs to be done.

Why do that? This DOJ has a track record of just showing up to court anyway with a weak case and then losing. Then blame the judge if that happens.

I’m old enough to remember when getting these cases in Florida was going to stick the landing. Maybe the prosecution needs to bring forth a more ironclad case if they want to push this over the edge. We have it all.

Rudy Giuliani said long ago he would be willing to prosecute it. Put him in coach, he's ready to play.
