MLB has a system where a catcher or pitcher can challenge a pitch. it takes may 5 seconds to do. Each team has 2 challenges. College ball really needs it, especially sec.

You get 2 challenges on spelling.

Who is going to pay for the technology required to make that system work?

What chang does it need? Donna Chang, from Seinfled?

Dont know how that works. Just saw it. As bad as college umpires are it would be good to have. Don't know the cost or who pays for it

Well, first off, in college, you will give as good as you get.

I wouldn't put anymore work on SEC umpires
They probably wouldn't be able to handle it or they will go to Birmingham which is a complete waste of time

Who is installing the video boards to display this at the shitty high school stadiums that the SWAC, MEAC, Ivy and other low-major conference teams play in?

Umpire has nothing to do with it. It confirms or over turn umpire call. No calling Birmingham.

Would just add another 30+ minutes to a typical four-hour game, and SEC umps/Birmingham would still frick it up regardless. Hard pass.

Right there in the title of the thread.
And this is the whole OP:

No mention of the SEC.

No. Takes maybe 5 seconds
Posted on 4/17/26 at 1:59 pm to Jest a game
All schools don't have to do it. But if sec wanted it then all schools would have to use it

College pitchers don't want an automated strike zone, I promise you that. You think our pitchers walk too many hitters now, let a robot call balls and strikes.

While this is usually the prevailing thought, it goes the other way too if they actually called pitches where they cross the plate

If you think CB Bucknor got put on blast, some of these SEC umpires would quit mid game.
