Did they accomplish what they wanted in the end?

What were they actually trying to do in the first place?

What was their mission statement?

the main goal was to whitewash their money with sports. They just failed at putting out a good product. So they have pivoted into the entertainment industry.

The same goal they’ve had with soccer and formula 1. They just underestimated how much more important the American audience is for golf to make the same model work

Nothing. Trash golf and a party scene.

It seemed to me, the whole point from a financial aspect was to build these teams into assets that could be sold off. Think they originally planned to give each captain a small percentage of the ssle to incentivize them helping turn them in appreciating assets.

Guess that didnt work.

Have you watched the WM Open?

And other tournaments have tried party atmospheres as well

The sport has degraded a bit, and yes WM is Exhibit A

Yep, use oil money to buy into revenue producing assets and fund their future. They would certainly buy into the major US leagues but there are rules in place for ownership that prevents this from happening.

Yes. It’s a one-off which is what makes it unique. There was major pushback when it got too crazy. The only other real “scene” that’s even comparable to a LIV party is probably #17 during the Players but even then they don’t have loud music.

People don’t want to watch unserious sports.

Did the tour make changes since the beginning of LIV?

What changes did they make?
