Is this true? In the State of Louisiana you may have to take a written test every time you renew your drivers license? Lawmakers are deciding? Another money grab?

As of April 2026, a proposed bill, House Bill 777, would require Louisiana drivers to pass a written knowledge test every six years when renewing their driver's license.

This bill aims to improve driver safety, though it faces legislative debate and is not yet current law. Currently, a written test is not generally required for standard renewals, only for new licenses.

Will this prevent people from watching their TV phone whilst driving?

anyone over 70 should have to do an in person driving test every 2 years. I will die on this hill. Lost a good friend do to a 77 year old driver who was basically blind.... yet they still had a drivers license.

It would be the same ones they currently ask when you take your initial test.

I was in the OMV 2 weeks ago. They were issuing driver’s licenses to 2 Hispanics that could not speak English. There was an interpreter there to communicate with them. There is no sending them all back going on. This state and country are complicit with being absolutely corrupt.

Can’t say it’s discriminatory because poor kids are just as smart as white kids.
