Generic and mindless. Bay City Rollers when they are pissed off and on heroin.

One of the best concerts I ever attended.
To see Velvet Revolver….they also played GNR…Scott doing Patience and Mr Brownstone was fire. And of course they played STP….like seeing 3 bands. Slash on slide guitar for Interstate Love Song!
On top of that Alice In Chains opened!!

Scott Weiland really creeped me out in this video. STP wasn’t much on my radar back then, but I absolutely loved a couple Velvet Revolver songs. But the whole heroin chic look didn’t do it for me. Then I saw STP on a whim around 2011 and realized Weiland is one of the greatest front men in the history of rock.
Slither and Fall to Pieces are two of my favorite songs of that era.

I'm not sure I disagree but nevertheless, that is a hilarious comparison.

Makes me miss Matt Sorum from his longtime tenure with GNR after Adler, wish he was the one touring with them today.

I read an interview with him expressing a little regret over the move. Paraphrasing:
I joined GnR to play fricking rock n roll songs, not listen to Axl's operatic explorations.

I love Velvet Revolver. Still in my rotation.
Big Machine, Loving The Alien, The Last Fight are some of my favorites from them.
Lyrics from Big Machine:
“…Get away without borders
I'm a slave, New World Order
I guess I chose to be, I guess I chose to be
I guess I chose to be, I guess I chose to be
All that first-class jet set brings me down, down, down
All that first-class drug shite brings me down, down, down
It's a big machine, it's a big machine
We're all slaves to a big machine
It's a big machine, it's a big machine
We're all slaves to a big machine
All tied up to a big machine
I got houses, got cars
I got a wife, I got kids
Got money in the bank…”

They were lightning in a bottle for a bit there.
Saw them a few times on that initial tour including shows before the album release.
Just electric.

I realize Scott Weiland was a troubled person and the band was always on the verge of flying apart, but for a couple of minutes, Velvet Revolver was the perfect rock and roll band.
