Any recommendations for tire sensor replacement in Baton Rouge?

Looking for any recommendations for shops or mechanics that change out tire sensors that read psi levels reasonably.
I appreciate any help as always.

My BIL went berserk about the estimate he got for this recently. He claimed Amazon had a component to fix this easily, but I never verified it.

Its not the cost of the sensor, it's the labor. They have to take the tires off, replace the sensor, then program them.

Yeah, the dealerships want $150 plus a pop, that's ridiculous. I know its only like a 20 to 30 dollar part max.

What type of car? If you’re a lesbian driving a Subaru we might need to give more specific recommendations. Generally speaking Agco is well regarded

That wouldn’t be bad. Most shops seem to be hovering around $100 hr labor.

I think I paid $75 per for a Silverado last year.
The parts aren’t expensive but it’s time consuming and you need the programmer to sync them to the right spot.

I hear you, but its a cheap replacement and its not 2 hours worth of labor.
Ive had them come unsynced and drove up tot he dealership to be reprogrammed, takes like 45 seconds.
Problem is, when the battery dies on them, which is where im at. I understand i have to pay, but im not paying the cost of a tire for a 15 dollar sensor. They dont harge that kind of labor to patch a tire.

I’ve seen the sensor reset tools sold on Amazon.
I’d try that first.

What shop did you use?

Any time this shite comes up at my house I pretend someone has called into the Dave Ramsey show and asked what they should do about this.
Dave would say "you don't have 200 dollars to spend so you know what the pressure in your tire is. If it looks low, get it fixed".
And then I move on with my life.
Gee, 45, on baby step 5

Do y’all have a Discount Tire around? I called a while back and it was $65 parts and labor. I never went because it started working again.
This was only a couple months ago.

Its a simple part replacement if one isn't working. Very very hard for any tire shop to screw up.

Also...if you are saying several sensors went out together, the sensors probably aren't the issue.
That would be like 4 spark plugs going bad all at once. Would likely be a hint that issue is elsewhere

Those stupid sensors drive me nuts. Wish they never were invented.

Yeah, we have a few of them in BR. I have one out too, but I’m about to need new tires so I’ll just deal with it then.

No you do not. What make and model is the OP driving?

About a third of manufacturers no longer put sensors in the wheels anymore. They have moved to iTPMS which uses an algorithm off of your ABS Sensors. The good is that the new system doesn't need to be replaced. The bad is it doesn't tell you the exact pressure since it's looking at wheel speed.

That’s how I approach it. I have had a busted sensor for the last 40,000 miles or so. The pressure light is constantly on. I don’t need a sensor to tell me my tire is fricked. If I walk out and see a tire is going flat, I take care of it. Otherwise, just keep your tires properly inflated and manually check the pressure periodically.
