What happens when the umpire goes to break up a mound visit and they don’t stop?

Does someone get tossed?
Whom?
Whom?

Probably toss the manager or pitching coach, whoever is out there.

What if it’s just the catcher and pitcher?

They both get a strongly worded letter.

Has it ever happened?
It’s like don’t pull your gun unless you’re willing to shoot.

That's a good question ......one would get tossed and probably the catcher since he is the one out of position

Umpire is honor bound to challenge the catcher to a duel

Umpire could eject manager but would probably call a ball on the pitcher.Delay of game.

Ball 1
Ball 3
Fark it. That's a walk.

Doesn't MLB have a pitch clock now? My guess is he walks back to the plate and starts the clock. Then let them talk as long as they see fit.

In Major League Baseball (and most leagues that follow similar rules), mound conferences are tightly regulated, and the umpire has clear authority to break them up.
Here’s exactly how it works—no fluff:
? When the umpire goes to the mound
If a conference is taking too long or is unauthorized, the umpire will:
Walk to the mound
Verbally order the conference to break up immediately
This is not optional—it's a direct instruction.
? If they don’t break up immediately
The umpire has escalating authority:
1. Warning (very brief)
Usually just a quick “That’s enough, break it up”
No obligation to give multiple warnings
2. Force removal of the pitcher
If the delay continues or they ignore him:
The umpire can order the pitcher removed from the game immediately
No warm-up pitches required beyond what's allowed for a new pitcher
This is the main enforcement tool.
?? Limits on mound visits (important context)
Under MLB rules:
Teams are limited to 5 mound visits per game (varies slightly by level/year)
Exceeding the limit:
The pitcher must be removed
So if the visit itself is illegal (over the limit), the umpire can skip straight to removal.
?? If a manager/coach refuses to leave
The umpire can eject the manager or coach
This is separate from pitcher removal
So I guess if manager not there, he can toss pitcher....manager tossed if hes out there

Seems like you would see this more when someone gets pissed off. I don’t remember ever seeing it.
I do remember that time the pitcher kept asking for a new ball and the immediately tossing it and asking for another. That was a good one.

Worst analogy I’ve ever heard. Congrats

That's the best way to do it.
"I'm starting the pitch clock. You do what you want from here."

I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more when THE JUDGE is up.

The same thing that happens if the pitching/defense never gets that final out.
Could go on forever

Start the pitch clock and call a ball.
