6-8 in SEC is competitive. Beating a ranked at-the-time team in Kentucky and winning a road SEC series is considered competitive.

It’s all it’s worth when there IS no argument. Having a record south of .500 isn’t competitive by any reasonable definition. It just means you got beat by all of the competitive teams.

If 14 wins gets you in the regional, and that’s also a losing record (14-16), then whether it’s a losing record or not doesn’t matter. It’s competitive. At or around .500 in the sec is considered competitive.
